The Senate has urged the dismissal of the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Husaini Magaji, over his consistent failure to respond to invitations to appear before lawmakers.
The decision followed a motion introduced by Orji Uzor Kalu during a session in which the President’s economic team met with the Senate Committee on Finance.
At the commencement of the meeting, which opened on a tense note, lawmakers voiced dissatisfaction over the absence of the CAC Registrar-General, who had been invited to brief the committee on the commission’s operations.
Senator Uzor Kalu expressed frustration as he moved a motion seeking the immediate removal of the Registrar-General, accusing him of repeatedly ignoring invitations from the finance committee.
“Since I came to the Senate, he has always given excuses that he is in the Villa.”
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa, also highlighted lingering concerns regarding the reconciliation of the commission’s revenue, pointing out that the agency’s head had consistently failed to appear to clarify the issues.
In support of the motion, Adams Oshiomhole suggested that the Senate consider additional measures, including withholding approval of the commission’s proposed 2026 budget.
The Senate subsequently adopted the motion calling on the President to remove the CAC Registrar-General from office.
