Senior diplomats from Seoul and Washington has deliberated over the North Korean nuclear issues, following the previous day’s foreign and defense ministerial meeting between the two allies.

Seoul’s chief nuclear envoy Noh Kyu-duk held a meeting with U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Sung Kim, here in Seoul.

They discussed Korean peninsula affairs as a follow-up to meeting by top diplomats and defense chiefs from Seoul and Washington.

The foreign affairs and defense chiefs, in Thursday’s joint statement reaffirmed that North Korea’s “nuclear and ballistic missile issues are a priority for the alliance.”

The Biden administration is reviewing its new North Korea policy, which is likely to be completed in weeks ahead.

During that process, the U.S. has reiterated many times that it’s closely consulting with its allies, South Korea and Japan.
