Seoul’s metropolitan government has submitted a bid to the IOC to co-host the 2032 Summer Olympics with Pyeongyang.
Seoul city expressed regret to the committee that it had already selected Australia’s Brisbane as the preferred choice leading to the co-host proposal being submitted.
The bid is in line with what was agreed during the September 2018 Pyeongyang Joint Declaration when President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreed to cooperate in hosting the event.
Authorities said a Seoul-Pyeongyang Olympics would represent peace and unity through sports.
