A tragic plane crash in western Mexico on Sunday has resulted in the deaths of approximately seven people. The aircraft, a Cessna 207, crashed in a dense forest in Jalisco, located in the western region of the country. It had taken off from La Parota, a town in the neighboring state of Michoacán, before going down.
Jalisco Civil Protection posted on social media, stating that the crash occurred in an area that was difficult to access. Initial reports from authorities at the scene indicated the fatalities of seven individuals. According to the statement, “This Sunday afternoon, a Cessna 207 small plane from La Parota, Michoacán, suffered an accident, crashing in a wooded area that is difficult to access.”
The agency further detailed the response efforts: “Jalisco Civil Protection personnel, in coordination with local authorities from Quitupan and Mazamitla, were dispatched to the crash site near the town of Palo Verde. Police officers who first arrived on the scene reported the deaths of seven people, though they did not disclose any identifying information.
Military personnel from SEDENA have also been involved in securing the crash site. Efforts to extinguish the fire and mitigate any potential risks were undertaken. Authorities are now waiting for forensic teams to remove the bodies and confirm whether any additional victims are present at the site.”
