Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has received the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, along with his spouse, Paola Rodoni Cassis, and members of the Swiss delegation in Abuja.
The reception took place at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to a statement issued by Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the visit will feature high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Switzerland.
The talks are expected to focus on key areas such as trade, migration, and human capital development.
The Swiss delegation includes senior officials and diplomats, among them:
- Ambassador Patricia Danzig, Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation
- Ambassador Philip Stalder, Head of the Africa Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Ambassador Tim Enderlin, Head of the Peace and Human Rights Division
- Ambassador Patrick Egloff, Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, was also present during the reception.
The visit by Ignazio Cassis signals a continued effort by both nations to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation. As discussions progress, the engagement is expected to open new opportunities for collaboration in trade, development, and global partnerships between Nigeria and Switzerland.
