Anambra state governor, prof Chukwuma Soludo has urged the people of the state to observe a one-day prayer session against the activities of gunmen terrorizing the state and the whole of the southeast region.
He said the move was necessary to counter the evil activities of the indigenous people of Biafra gunmen and their sit-at-home order. Stating that it was against those hiding under IPOB to cause havoc in the state.
The prayers would commence on April 4, 2022, and would hold in churches all around the state.
The call to prayer was given at a stakeholders’ peace meeting with security chiefs, traditional rulers, and religious leaders in the state capital of Awka.
He said “ I enjoin you to pause and join in fellowship to seek the face of God. It is expected that the conclusion of the prayer session will mark the end of the sit-at-home order in Anambra state.
Rampaging unknown gunmen have plagued the state and most of south east Nigeria, continuously in recent times. Gunmen in the early hours of yesterday set ablaze Osumenyi, Amichi and Ezinifite police stations all in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
This is coming less than twelve hours after unknown gunmen burnt some buildings in Nnewi South Local Government Headquarters in Ukpor, which prompted the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to visit the scene.
Many of these gunmen have been associated with members of IPOB and their activities throughout the region.
