South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has offered an apology to the nation for the troubles caused by heavy rain across the country this week.

Chairing back-to-back response meetings Wednesday at the Seoul Government Complex, President Yoon instructed his government to pay extra close attention to the vulnerable groups in society to ensure that they are well protected against the historic rainfall.
He called for measures to address related issues in a fundamental way, and asked that all officials base their responses on the worst-case scenario, saying the state is fully responsible for the safety of the public.
