Splendid Weekend For Nigeria’s Quartet At The Continent

  • AS FAR Rabat 1-1 Remo Stars
  • Kwara United 3-0 AS Douanes (Niger Republic)
  • Rivers United 3-0 Watanga (Liberia)
  • Stade Mandji (Gabon) 2-2 Plateau United

Remo Stars pulled a stunning 1-1 draw in Morocco holding former Confederation Cup holders, AS FAR. Plateau United also posted a good away result, 2-2 in Gabon while at home, Rivers United and Kwara United both got 3-0 wins in their respective match to give Nigerians celebrations ahead of the return leg matches next weekend.

This is a far cry from happenings in the past. The last team to stood their ground are the Remo Stars, Nigeria’s only debutants this season and easily the ones with the most challenging fixture.

The home side had shot ahead in the 27th minute off a glancing header by Cape Verde import, Diney who connected a free kick.

Remo Stars levelled up in the 50th minute through Olamilekan Adebayo’s  header from corner kick.

Remo Stars held on gamely up to the five minutes additional time.
