SUBEB In Ekiti Tasks Parents on Positive Attitude

The Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, has charged parents to have a positive attitude towards the education of their children.

He described parents as stakeholders with very important roles in the basic education delivery system in Nigeria, saying, “They also have key roles to play in laying a solid foundation for the educational development of their children”.

Akinwumi also charged parents to monitor their children’s progress in school and allow them time to study and play after school as well as train and encourage them to imbibe decent personal hygiene practices.

The SUBEB boss spoke in Ado Ekiti while presenting cash gift and some school items to an indigent pupil of St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School, Irona, Ado-Ekiti, Ayomiposi Adeyemi.

The items presented to the indigent pupil included an undisclosed amount of money, a set of school uniforms, a pupils’ lunch basket and its accessories  among others.

He pledged to take over the full academic responsibility of the five-year-old pupil, who was reported to have lost his mother in 2020 while his father, a painter and peasant farmer is said to be unable to cater for his basic needs.

The SUBEB boss reiterated the readiness of the government to assist the needy and vulnerable pupils, especially the indigent with the basic necessities to access the free education offered by the state government.

The school’s head teacher, Mrs Fisayo Olowoyo, who lauded the SUBEB boss for his philanthropic gesture, assured that the staff of the school would redouble their efforts towards ensuring that the boy excelled in his studies.
