Super Eagles Hit Camp For The First-Time After 2023 AFCON

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have gathered again – for the first time since clinching silver at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

This time, the Eagles are gathering to the welcome of a new interim head coach – new role but a familiar face.

Finidi George who was one of Jose Peseiro’s assistants at the 2023 AFCON will lead the team for the international friendly games in March.

These friendly games mark the Super Eagles’ first matches since their defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final back in January. The team is scheduled to face Ghana on March 22, followed by a match against Mali four days later.

In anticipation of these fixtures, the Nigeria Football Federation initially invited 26 players to the squad, with Enyimba coach Finidi George taking charge following the departure of Jose Peseiro. However, four players, including Victor Osimhen, Gabriel Osho, Tyrone Ebuehi, and Taiwo Awoniyi, have unfortunately withdrawn from the squad with injury.
