Super Falcons Ready For Olympic Games-Randy Waldrum

Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has declared his team’s readiness to face Canada in a friendly and Brazil in their Olympics opener, despite some players arriving late to camp.

The Nigerian women’s national team, one of two African teams heading to the Paris Olympics, will compete in a challenging group that includes Japan and Spain.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has organized a friendly match against Canada set for July 17. Waldrum expressed confidence in his players’ preparation during an interview with The Super Falcons Show. “We have had a great camp; the players have worked extremely hard,” Waldrum said. He acknowledged the late arrivals but emphasized that the team’s focus and training intensity have remained high.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had a few come into the camp a little bit late, but the level has been extremely high, and the players look very, very focused moving forward for the Olympics,” Waldrum noted.

The friendly against Canada is seen as a crucial test for the team. “Certainly, the Canada game for us is a friendly and allows us to work on a couple of things that we put in place during this camp, and to see some players, to find those best combinations that are going to actually represent us when we open up against Brazil in the opening match,” Waldrun explained.

Waldrum expressed that the players are eager to face new competition. “I think the girls are ready. They are tired of playing each other. I think they are ready to face a new team, so we are all looking forward to the game against Canada.”

The Super Falcons’ Olympic campaign kicks off against Brazil on July 25, followed by matches against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.
