Tambuwal Appoints 23 Caretakers As LGs Chairmen’s Tenure Expires

Following the expiration of the tenure of elected local government chairmen in Sokoto state, the state governor Aminu Tambuwal has approved the appointment of twenty-three caretakers chairmen of local government areas in the state.

This is contain in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to government Tambuwal on media and Publicity, Mohammed Bello.

In the statement Mohammed Bello quoted the Secretary to the State Government Muhammad Mainasara Ahmad saying consequent to the expiration of tenure of local government councils as provided under Local Government (Amendment) Law No. 6 of 2016, the state Governor has approved the appointment of the following as Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 local government areas pending the conduct of the Local Government election.”

Those appointed are:

  1. Wadata Muhammad- Binji LGA
  2. Shehu Muhammad- Bodinga LGA
  3. Umar Buda- Dange/Shuni LGA
  4. Abdul-Wahab Yahaya- Goronyo LGA
  5. Aminu A. Aya- Gwadabawa LGA
  6. Abubakar Yusuf Dan-Ali- Isa LGA
  7. Yahaya Abdullahi Gandi- Rabah LGA
  8. Jafaru Hamza- Kware LGA
  9. Umaru Danyaro- Sabon Birni LGA
  10. Bello Muhammad Gunki- Silame LGA
  11. Aliyu Dantani Shagari- Shagari LGA
  12. Mustapha Shehu Sokoto- Sokoto North LGA
  13. Faruku Abdulrahman Sayudi- Sokoto South LGA
  14. Nasiru Babata- Tambuwal LGA
  15. Ibrahim Muhammad Lawal- Tangaza LGA
  16. Abubakar Salihu- Tureta LGA
  17. Bello Abubakar Gwiwa- Wamakko LGA
  18. Lawal Marafa Fakku- Kebbe LGA
  19. Abdulkadir Arzika Wurno- Wurno LGA
  20. Garba Yakubu Tsitse- Gada LGA
  21. Aliyu Shehu Illela- Illela LGA

He said the appointment takes effect from 11th April, 2023.

“In the same vein, the state Governor has also approved the reconstitution of the Caretaker Councillors for the 23 local government areas, the appointments of which will be formalized in due course,” the SSG explained.
