Following several distressing videos and reports of violence in the area, an unconfirmed number of persons were killed yesterday at Mile 2, in a clash between the Lagos Task Force, tanker drivers, and touts.
A distress call from a stranded passerby, who explained that there was a fight on top of the Mile 2-Oshodi bridge and as a result, the bridge had been barricaded, blocking the access for passengers to the main road alerted reporters to the scene.
Although the actual cause of the fight is yet to be ascertained, at the time of the call, the eyewitness claimed that four persons were dead from gunshots.
The Lagos state police pro SP Benjamin Hundeyin reported via social media that “CP Idowu Owohunwa was on ground at Mile 2 to assess the situation. Total normalcy has been restored. Meanwhile, investigation into the killing of a driver has commenced.”
