TCN Commissions 300MVA Transformer At Egbin Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has commissioned a new 300MVA power transformer at its 330/132/33kV Egbin Transmission Substation in Lagos State on February 22, 2025.

With this installation, the substation’s capacity has risen from 300MVA to 450MVA, boosting the supply of bulk electricity to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company.

The Egbin Transmission Substation in Lagos State remains a major hub in the transmission network serving EKEDC, which supplies electricity to parts of Lagos and nearby communities.

The facility plays an essential role in delivering electricity to the area, which has a dense population and an expanding business environment.

In a statement shared on the company’s X handle on Monday, the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said, “This upgrade will directly benefit customers in Ikorodu, Shagamu, Ijede, and surrounding areas. It will enhance the reliability of power supply, support economic growth, and contribute to a more stable grid.”

Commenting on the completion of the project, the General Manager of Transmission, Lagos Region, Adeshina Adeonipekun, said, “The project was completed in-house by TCN engineers in just six weeks. This achievement reflects our commitment to strengthening the national grid and ensuring reliable power delivery for all Nigerians.”

The newly installed transformer is expected to provide steadier and more dependable electricity to the region, improve network flexibility, and further stimulate economic activities.
