The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced plans to establish 18 new Innovation Hubs in tertiary institutions across Nigeria in 2025. The initiative aims to enhance research, innovation, and technological advancement in the country.
TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono, made the announcement at the closing ceremony of the 30th Cohort of the Research for Impact (R4i) initiative, held at Innov8 Technology Hub in Abuja.
According to Echono, the establishment of these hubs aligns with TETFund’s commitment to fostering problem-solving research, entrepreneurship, and stronger research-industry linkages. He highlighted the role of education and research in national development and reaffirmed the Fund’s dedication to institutionalizing Research & Development (R&D) in Nigerian universities.
Echono also commended Innov8 Technology Hub for its contributions to transforming the country’s innovation ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Edward Singhatey, Director of Innov8 Hub, urged participants to share the knowledge and tools gained from the R4i programme with their institutions and students to further drive innovation.
The R4i programme, a collaboration between TETFund and Innov8 Technology Hub, is designed to empower researchers and academics with the skills needed to conduct solution-driven research that addresses key societal challenges.
