Tinubu Approves New Military Equipment To Strengthen Anti-Terror Operations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the procurement of additional military hardware to strengthen the operations of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the ongoing fight against insurgency and terrorism across the country.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, after he led the service chiefs to a meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

According to Musa, the meeting allowed the service chiefs to brief the president on the current security situation and provide updates on ongoing military operations nationwide.

“The meeting enabled Mr. President to gain direct insight into developments on the ground,” Musa stated, adding that some recent media reports have not fully reflected the extent of military activities across the country.

The defence minister acknowledged that there had been several recent attacks in parts of the country but noted that security forces have continued to respond decisively and inflict heavy losses on terrorist groups.

He revealed that troops have eliminated several high-ranking militant commanders in recent operations while also recovering weapons and other assets from the insurgents.

Musa also paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing the losses as painful but emphasizing that the military remains committed to protecting the nation.

“The commitment of our Armed Forces to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians is unwavering,” he said.

The minister further appealed to Nigerians to remain patient, explaining that terrorist groups often intensify their activities during the period of Ramadan.

He said military commanders have adjusted their operational strategies to address the pattern.

With the approval of additional military equipment and stronger collaboration among security agencies, Musa expressed optimism that Nigeria’s security forces would ultimately defeat insurgency and terrorism.

“Our agencies are working in concert, fully committed to winning this war,” he concluded.
