President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Anite-Uzoka.
Mrs. Anite-Uzoka has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, where she will serve as Minister of State. This marks her third portfolio within the current administration.
The President has formally forwarded Mr. Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Before his nomination, Mr. Oyedele, a native of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. In that role, he led significant reforms aimed at restructuring Nigeria’s tax system.
At 50, Mr. Oyedele is an accomplished economist, accountant, and public policy expert. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Mr. Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. In addition to his professional career, he serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
