Tinubu Remains Fully Committed to Governance – Presidency

The Presidency has reassured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains actively engaged in the country’s affairs despite his ongoing trip to Europe.

In response to concerns raised by opposition figures over his absence during a period of increased insecurity, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement titled “Statement on President Tinubu’s Return to Nigeria.”

Onanuga clarified that President Tinubu, who traveled from Paris to London over the weekend, has maintained constant communication with top government officials and has issued directives to security agencies to tackle emerging security threats, particularly in troubled regions.

He emphasized that the President’s absence is temporary and within a pre-communicated two-week timeframe, stating, “The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership.”

While the exact purpose of the trip was not disclosed, the Presidency described it as consistent with the President’s pattern of working visits since assuming office.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja on Monday, April 21, following the conclusion of the Easter holidays.

The statement comes amid criticism from prominent opposition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who questioned the President’s absence in light of rising insecurity, particularly in Plateau and Benue States.

In response, the Presidency urged Nigerians to remain calm and assured them that the machinery of government continues to operate seamlessly.

“His return to Abuja and resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday,” Onanuga concluded, reiterating President Tinubu’s steadfast dedication to national leadership and governance.
