Tribunal Dismisses Case on Benue South Senatorial Election

The National and State Assembly elections petition tribunal in Benue State has dismissed the application filed by the candidate of the APC for Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Dan Onjeh, seeking a recount of the votes cast in February 25th, 2023, election, which produced Comrade Abba Moro of the PDP as winner.

In the ruling delivered Wednesday morning, the chairman of the panel, Justice Ory Zik-Ikeorha held that the petitioner has not provided enough evidence and the application was pre-emptive and premature at this stage at stage of pre-hearing.

Election Petition Tribunal Adjourns Until May 17

The panel accordingly dismissed the application.

The Court is about to continue with the pre-hearing of Petition No: EPT/BN/13/2023,filed by Senator Gabriel Suswam of the PDP, challenging the declaration of Emmanuel Udende of the APC as Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District.
