US-Iran Nuclear Talks Resume In Geneva As Trump Issues 15-Day Warning

Iran and the United States are scheduled to hold a third round of nuclear negotiations on Thursday in Geneva, according to Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi, as diplomatic efforts intensify amid growing military tensions in the region.

“Pleased to confirm US-Iran negotiations are now set for Geneva this Thursday, with a positive push to go the extra mile towards finalizing the deal,” Badr Al Busaidi said in a post on X.

The renewed talks come as Washington ramps up its military presence across the Middle East and urges Tehran to quickly reach an agreement. US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran must finalise a deal within 10 to 15 days or face consequences, stating that failure to do so would mean “it’s going to be unfortunate.”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Trump said, “We’re either going to get a deal, or it’s going to be unfortunate for them… 10-15 days would be enough time.”

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that hundreds of US servicemen have been relocated from Al Udeid Air Base, citing Pentagon officials, as part of broader efforts to strengthen America’s regional military posture.

Additional logistical adjustments have reportedly taken place at US installations in Bahrain — home to the US Navy’s 5th Fleet as well as in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to The Jerusalem Post, referencing Asian News International, Iran’s mission to the United Nations issued a stern warning that, in the event of an American strike, “all bases, facilities, and assets of the hostile force in the region would constitute legitimate targets.”

Security analysts have expressed concern that the approximately 30,000 to 40,000 US troops stationed across the Middle East could become direct targets if tensions escalate into full-scale conflict. Experts note that any potential confrontation would differ significantly from the June 2025 strike on Al Udeid, when Iranian officials reportedly gave advance notice before launching an attack.

In response to the heightened risks, the United States is said to be reinforcing air defence systems in the region to safeguard personnel and strategic assets. Reports also indicate that two US aircraft carriers are being positioned at a considerable distance from Iranian territory to reduce vulnerability to retaliatory strikes.
