Uzbekistan Orders Two H-25 Gas Turbines

Power technology company Mitsubishi Power has received an order for two 32MW H-25 gas turbines for a natural gas-fired cogeneration plant being built in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

According to Mitsubishi Power, the H-25 is a heavy-duty gas turbine and the high temperature of the exhaust gas is suitable for cogeneration, increasing efficiency and reducing CO2.

The H-25 gas turbines will be manufactured at MHI’s Hitachi Works in Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan and will be scheduled to start operations in 2024.

The two units will be operated by local operator JSC Tashkent HPP with Turkish firm Calik Enerji acting as EPC contractor. The project is financially supported by a loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In the past, Mitsubishi Power has supplied gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) equipment for other facilities in Uzbekistan, including Navoi 1&2 Power Plant, Talimarjan Power Plant, Turakurgan Power Plant, and Sirdarya Power Plant.

Moving forward, the company plans to support the country’s decarbonisation efforts with other GTCC and other high-efficiency equipment.
