– Victor Osimhen has three goals in two AFCON 2022 qualifiers so far
– The 21-year-old scored twice against Lesotho and once in their game vs Benin – The Napoli striker will have a chance to increase his tally against Sierra Leone this weekend
– Meanwhile Luis Leal, Diedhiou and Khazri have equal goals tally with the Super Eagles star
The Nigeria Super Eagles did not only finish their Group L qualifying series of the Africa Cup of Nations unbeaten and topping their group, star striker, Victor Osimhen also had individual honour.
He, along with Zambia’s Patson Daka was the top scorer. Each of Osimhen and Daka scored five goals each.
Although owing to the confusion in Conakry over the last Group L match involving Sierra Leone and Benin Republic, the series have not ended, the conclusion of the outstanding match will not have effect on the top scorers’ chart.
There have been 334 matches in 150 matches. Other Super Eagles’ players also feature prominently on the goal chart.
Alex Iwobi who was denied the chances of playing in Saturday’s match in suspicious circumstances of failing Covid-19 test in Benin – a situation that was later faulted by another test in Lagos – is among the 15 scorers of three goals in the series.
Samuel Chukwueze and Paul Onuachu, each with two goals each in the series, are among the 41 scorers in that category.
