Emilio Nsue, the equatorial guinea striker, has been handed a six-month ban by the world governing body FIFA for his eligibility to participate in his country’s first two qualifiers for the 2026 world cup.
The 34-year-old had scored decisive goals in both games against Namibia and Liberia in November.
The FIFA disciplinary committee, after a thorough investigation, has concluded that Nsue was ineligible to play in “several” international matches.
As a result, both world cup preliminaries will be declared forfeit with a score line of 3-0 in favor of their opponents.

Also, the Equatoguinean federation (FEGUIFUT) has been fined 150,000 Swiss francs ($164,000, £129,000) and Nsue himself – who previously represented Spain at the youth level – is prohibited from playing for any national team for six months.
However, FIFA has not released any information regarding the ruling on the player who won the golden boot at the 2023 Africa cup of nations.
According to a FEGUIFUT official, they are currently investigating the case and have not yet received an official notification from FIFA.
