Yahaya Bello: EFCC Confirms Former Governor Remains a Wanted Man

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not in their custody.

In a statement on Wednesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale emphasized that Bello remains wanted due to “alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges.” He stated, “Reports suggesting that Mr. Yahaya Bello is currently in the EFCC’s holding facility are incorrect. He is not in our custody and has an active warrant for his arrest.”

This announcement contradicts claims from Bello’s Media Office, which stated that he had responded to the EFCC’s invitation.

Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, Ohiare Michael, noted that the former governor made the decision to meet with the agency after consulting with his family, legal team, and political allies. However, no further details or photographs from Bello’s alleged visit to the EFCC were provided.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
