17 Lawmakers Defect To NDC As ADC Loses Ground In House Of Representatives

No fewer than 17 members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigerian Democratic Congress in a significant political shift.

Their defections were formally announced on the floor of the House during plenary on Tuesday.

Also confirmed during the session was the defection of Leke Abejide, who moved from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress.

Lawmakers who defected to the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, and Munachim Umezuruike.

Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, and Abdulhakeem Ado.

The development marks another wave of political realignment within Nigeria’s legislative arm, as party affiliations continue to shift ahead of future electoral contests.
