2027 Elections: ADC Ready to Unseat Tinubu – David Mark

Former Senate President and current National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has declared that the opposition is prepared to make the necessary sacrifices to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Mark made this known during the official unveiling of the ADC as the flagship platform for a broad-based opposition coalition in Abuja. The gathering marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, as opposition parties attempt to consolidate power and present a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are under no illusion that it will be an easy task,” Mark said. “This coalition is not just about seeking power; it is about preventing our country from descending into a one-party state and ensuring that Nigeria’s democracy survives.”

He emphasized that the ADC-led coalition would pursue national unity, institutional reforms, and economic recovery, claiming that the current administration had failed to deliver on key promises.

A Growing Coalition Against APC

The unveiling comes amid growing dissatisfaction with the Tinubu-led government over issues such as fuel subsidy removal, inflation, unemployment, insecurity, and a weakening currency. Political analysts note that while the opposition remains fragmented, moves like this signal an early attempt to build momentum and galvanize public support ahead of the 2027 elections.

David Mark, a seasoned politician with cross-party appeal, is viewed as a strategic figure in rallying support from other parties, civil society groups, and disaffected members of the political elite.

A Tough Road Ahead

Despite his optimism, Mark admitted the road to 2027 would be tough. “We know the APC is entrenched and will not relinquish power easily. But for Nigeria’s future, we must rise above fear and work together across party lines,” he said.

Political observers believe that if the ADC successfully brings in other opposition heavyweights, including the Labour Party and factions of the PDP, the 2027 race could become highly competitive.
