APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda says internal surveys indicate President Tinubu is ahead of his political rivals as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) says its internal opinion polls favour President Bola Tinubu ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that the ruling party will retain power.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, made the disclosure during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on October 11, 2026.
Yilwatda said the party had conducted surveys across several states, gathering information that indicated strong support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
When asked whether the findings suggested that Tinubu would win the presidential election, the APC chairman responded confidently in the affirmative.
APC Polls Favour Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election

According to Yilwatda, the APC has undertaken internal assessments to determine its electoral strength across the country.
He maintained that the party’s findings placed Tinubu ahead of his political opponents.
However, the APC chairman did not publicly release detailed polling figures, sample sizes or the methodology used in conducting the surveys.
This means the party’s projections remain political claims rather than independently verified indications of the likely election outcome.
Yilwatda nevertheless insisted that the APC remained confident of winning the forthcoming presidential contest.
APC Dismisses Atiku, Peter Obi Opposition Challenge
The APC chairman also dismissed suggestions that opposition parties could defeat Tinubu in the 2027 election.

He specifically referenced the African Democratic Congress (ADC), associated with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), associated with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
According to Yilwatda, the opposition parties have not demonstrated sufficient electoral strength to threaten the ruling party’s position.
He also compared Tinubu’s leadership record with that of Atiku, arguing that the president had a stronger record in governance and economic management.
APC Chairman Defends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
Addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, Yilwatda defended the Tinubu administration’s tax reforms and changes in the electricity sector.
He argued that the government’s tax policies were designed to expand revenue generation while improving conditions for low-income Nigerians.
The APC chairman also highlighted reforms allowing state governments to participate more actively in electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
While acknowledging the financial pressure caused by increasing petrol prices, he maintained that the economic difficulties were temporary.
His remarks come amid continuing concerns about the cost of living, fuel prices and the wider economic impact of government policies.
APC Addresses Wike’s Rainbow Coalition
Yilwatda also commented on the Rainbow Coalition associated with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
He said the APC had no objection to individuals or political groups supporting President Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The chairman also addressed internal disagreements within the ruling party, acknowledging disputes in some states but expressing confidence that they could be resolved.
He disclosed that the party was reviewing its presidential campaign council list ahead of its planned inauguration.
What APC’s Poll Claims Mean for 2027
Although the APC maintains that its internal surveys favour Tinubu, the figures have not been made publicly available for independent examination.
Political opinion polls can provide insight into voter sentiment, but their reliability depends on transparent methods, representative samples and the timing of the research.
With opposition parties also preparing for the election, the eventual outcome will depend on voters rather than internal party predictions.
For now, the APC’s latest statements underline its confidence as political activities intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
