PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable forward in the world and also the most valuable forward under 25, although in the list of the leading 10 strikers under the age of 25, he is the only one currently plying his trade in France’s Ligue 1.
According to the latest updates on the Transfermarkt website, French striker Mbappe is ranked as the most valuable forward under 25.
The 23-year-old has a market value of €160m, while Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, the only African on the list of the top 10 forwards under-25, is the 10th most valuable striker in the world.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 for a club-record fee of €81m plus adds on. Following a season marred with injuries and health-related issues, the striker was in fine form for both the Italian side and his country.
Osimhen recorded 18 goals and six assists for Partonopei and also scored five goals in two games for the Super Eagles in the opening AFCON qualifying group stage games. Four of those goals came in an impressive performance against a lacklustre Sao Tome side as Super Eagles mauled them 10-0 in Morocco.
According to Transfermarkt, the Napoli forward is valued at €65m.
This valuation means the 23-year-old is ranked above Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes and Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.
Erling Haaland (21), Vinicius Junior (21), Dusan Vlahovic (22), and Christopher Nkunku (24) complete the top five with valuations of €150m, €100m, €85m, and €80m respectively.
Bayern Munich have signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool, both clubs confirmed on Wednesday, as the Senegal attacker has signed a three-year deal with the Bundesliga champions.
The transfer fee is reportedly around €41 million for Mane, 30, who won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Club World Cup during six years on Merseyside.
“My agent told me that there were also enquiries from other clubs, but for me, the feeling was right from the start when Bayern presented their plan with me,” Mane told Germany’s top-selling daily newspaper Bild.
“For me, it was the right club at the right time.
Bayern have just won the Bundesliga for a tenth straight season and Mane, who can play as a centre-forward or winger, said he wants to “do everything to make sure I win titles with my teammates”.
His arrival means Bayern have a ready-made replacement for wantaway striker Robert Lewandowski, who has been linked to a move to Barcelona, and winger Serge Gnabry, who is stalling over signing a contract extension.
Sadio Mane is a global star, who underlines the appeal of Bayern and will increase the attractiveness of the Bundesliga as a whole,” said Bayern president Herbert Hainer.
“Fans come to the stadiums to see unique players like this.”
Todd Boehly has drawn up a shortlist of five strikers to replace Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea this summer and according to reports, Victor Osimhen is one of those names on the new Chelsea boss’s list.
Lukaku sealed his return to Inter Milan on loan on Tuesday, having been blatant in his desire to return to the Serie A side after a miserable season, in which he scored just 15 goals in 44 appearances.
Boehly was initially against allowing the £97.5m striker leave but was convinced by manager Thomas Tuchel that it was the best solution for all parties.
And now the Daily Mail claims Boehly’s priority is to replace Lukaku, with five strikers ‘under discussion’ at the club.
Boehly is now working closely with Thomas Tuchel on transfers at Chelsea following the departure of director Marina Granovskaia.
Osimhen, who won the Italian Serie A Most Valuable Player for U-23 footballers, has attracted the attention of many clubs and is one of the most sought-after players in Europe after a fine season in Italy.
The Nigeria international scored 18 goals and registered six assists for Napoli in all competitions despite missing a chunk of the season with injury.
He also scored five goals in two games for the Super Eagles in the opening AFCON qualifying group stage games. Four of those goals came in an impressive performance against a lacklustre Sao Tome side as Super Eagles mauled them 10-0 in Morocco.
Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, held his first training as new coach of German fourth-tier club, SAV Straelen,
“Yes, Sunday Oliseh will be our new coach. A good 14 days ago we had delicious asparagus at the Straelener Hof,” president of the club Hermann Tecklenburg was quoted as saying by waz.de.
Tecklenburg added, “That was a good conversation. In the last 24 hours we were also able to discuss an employment contract until June 30, 2023. On Wednesday 21 June, Sunday will lead the first practice session. We look forward to working together.”
Oliseh, who penned a one-year contract with the north Rhine-Westphalia-based side in Germany’s fourth-tier division, is thrilled with his latest job.
“I’m happy about the job but I cannot talk at the moment as I’m holding my first training today (Wednesday),” Oliseh said
The 47-year-old, who last managed Eredivisie club, Fortuna Sittard, also coached Belgian club, Royal Cercle Sportif Vervietois and the Nigerian senior national team.
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner began his career at Julius Berger in his native Nigeria before European spells at Belgian club RFC Liege, Italian sides Reggiana and Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and FC Koln, both German sides.
He helped Nigeria win Olympic football gold in 1996, played for Dutch giants Ajax from 1997 to 1999, picking up a Dutch Eredivisie and two Dutch Cup titles.
Oliseh, who also played for VFL Bochum and Genk during his club career, earned 63 caps for Nigeria.
He played for his country in two Nations Cup and World Cup tournaments before his exit from international football in 2002.
In July 2015, he became the fourth player from the class of 1994 to manage the Super Eagles after Austin Eguavoen, Samson Siasia and Stephen Keshi.
A Pelvic Floor Specialist, Tolani Balogun, has urged women having pelvic floor dysfunction to seek help from experts early.
The expert warned that untreated pelvic floor dysfunction could lead to urine leakage and organ collapse.
According to her, the major function of the pelvic floor is the coordination of the pelvic itself, bowel, bladder, and sexual activities.
She noted that if anything goes wrong with the pelvic floor, there could be a collapse of different organs around it.
Balogun who is a Senior Consultant with Hepai Consulting said if left untreated, pelvic floor dysfunction could also lead to constipation, erectile dysfunction in men, and urine leakage in women especially when they cough.
pelvic floor dysfunction
She explained, “The major function of the pelvic floor is the coordination of the pelvic itself, the coordination of the bowel, bladder, and sexual activities. It is not only women that have bowel and bladder. So, both men and women need to be aware daily of the importance of the function of the pelvic floor.”
According to Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit multispecialty academic medical centre, pelvic floor dysfunction is the inability to correctly relax and coordinate your pelvic floor muscles to have a bowel movement.
“Symptoms include constipation, straining to defecate, having urine or stool leakage, and experiencing a frequent need to pee.
“If you are a woman, you may also feel pain during sex, and if you are a man you may have problems having or keeping an erection (erectile dysfunction). Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles found in the floor (the base) of your pelvic,” the clinic said.
Balogun stressed that if pelvic floor dysfunction is left untreated, it can start with urinary leakage for women, and constipation, and then the organs can start collapsing.
“No woman or man is immune to pelvic floor dysfunction. There is a myth out there about when the pelvic floor is mentioned. Most people think about pregnant women or women that just had babies once it is mentioned. If you are a mother and you have had your babies many years ago, you still have to take care of your pelvic.
“The major function of the pelvic floor is the coordination of the pelvic itself, the coordination of the bowel, bladder, and sexual activities. It is not only women that have bowel and bladder. So, both men and women need to be aware daily of the importance of the function of the pelvic floor.
“Also, men need to be aware that pelvic issues are not a woman’s thing, though women have more problems because women have extra organs for reproduction. However, a lot of men have pelvic problems and they suffer in silence,” she said.
She urged the Federal and state governments to urgently begin massive awareness of pelvic floor dysfunction in the country so that those battling the condition could seek appropriate care.
In a 2018 Ethiopian study published in BMC, a United Kingdom open-access journal which centered on pelvic floor disorders in women, the authors said women in developing countries do not disclose their problems due to associated social stigma or lack of access to services.
Hence, the extent of the problem remains largely unknown.
BMC is a United Kingdom open-access journal.
According to the researchers, 20.5 per cent of a total of 3432 women who participated in the study, reported one type of pelvic floor disorder.
The study calls for urgent action to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services to mitigate the suffering of women from pelvic floor disorders.
A total of 1, 519 batch ‘B’ (stream 1) corps members comprising 612 males and 907 females out of 1,800 deployed to Kaduna state by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) were officially sworn in for the orientation course.
The 21 days orientation course which is the first of four cardinal points of the scheme is designed to prepare the corps members for the task ahead as they go through the remaining three cardinal points which includes primary assignment, community development service and passing out parade.
Declaring this batch’s orientation course open at the temporary camp, Government College, Kurmi Marshi, Kaduna North local government area of the state, the State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of the NYSC, the corps members and NYSC staff in the state.

Earlier, the 27th Coordinator of the scheme in Kaduna, Odoba Abel Oche thanked the governor for the rehabilitation of the blown-off roof at the temporary orientation camp.
He however requested the governor to provide fans and additional toilet facilities in the hostels allocated to the corps members at the temporary camp to give them a minimum comfort as they begin the one-year mandatory service to the motherland.
Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas – where a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers – will be demolished, the city’s mayor has said.
Don McLaughlin made the claim on Tuesday at a tense and emotional council meeting with residents demanding answers over the shooting.
However, he did not say when exactly the school would be demolished.
“My understanding and I had this discussion with the superintendent is that school will be demolished. You can never ask a child to go back or teacher to go back in that school ever,” McLaughlin said.
Robb Elementary has nearly 600 students in the second, third and fourth grades.
Robb Elementary will not be the first school to be demolished after a mass shooting.
The attack by an 18-year-old identified as Salvador Ramos has led to renewed national debate about gun regulations.
U.S Senators on Tuesday advanced new legislation to address mass shootings in what has been called the most significant new gun controls in a generation.
The World Health Organisation has announced the launch of a new mobile application that would help curb skin cancer.
The application, according to the WHO, is to help protect individuals from excessive ultraviolet exposure, a key cause of skin cancer and other ultraviolet-related diseases.
The WHO said the app will enable individuals to be aware of when to use sun protection, adding that it will help to lessen the burden of skin cancer and UV-related eye damage, globally.
According to the WHO, the app is programmed to give localised information regarding radiation levels in UV and also, highlight time slots when protection from the sun is necessary.
The global health agency said the launch of the SunSmart Global UV app was done in collaboration with, the World Meteorological Organisation, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the International Labour Organisation.
The WHO director, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health, Dr. Maria Neira, said, “Evidence shows that overexposure to UV is the major cause of skin cancer.
“So it’s vital for people to know when and how to protect ourselves.
“We encourage everyone to use the application to protect themselves and their children, and to make this a daily habit.”
Although, the sun is necessary for everyone majorly for the production of Vitamin D because it assists to prevent the occurrence of bone diseases like rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis.
The WHO however said too much sun can be hazardous, and even life-threatening.
According to the WHO, in 2020, more than 1.5 million skin cancer cases were diagnosed globally.
The global health agency added that over 120,000 individuals around the world also died from this very preventable disease.
The WHO noted saying, “one of the main factors contributing to these cancers is excess UV radiation from thinning of the earth’s stratospheric ozone layer resulting from the release of certain manmade chemicals.
“Under the international treaty known as the Montreal Protocol, all United Nations Member States are phasing out the production and consumption of those substances according to a specific timetable.
“As a result of these continuing efforts, the ozone level is projected to recover by mid-century. In the meantime, individuals need to be particularly cautious to protect themselves from receiving too much UV exposure – this is where the UV app plays an important awareness role,” it said.
The Executive Secretary of UNEP’s Ozone Secretariat, Ms. Meg Seki, said, “The Montreal Protocol protects the stratospheric ozone layer which, in turn, protects human health and the environment by blocking most of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation from reaching the earth’s surface.
“Skin cancer can result from overexposure to the sun, so everyone must remain vigilant and ensure they protect themselves adequately with hats and sunscreen.
“The SunSmart app is a fantastic UV monitoring tool, and I would encourage everyone to use it,” she said.
The global health agency said, “The UV App has been launched to coincide with the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. By increasing the public’s awareness and helping to reduce the incidence of skin cancer, this application ultimately supports the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and well-being worldwide by 2030.”
In addition, “Much of UV-related illness and death can be avoided through a set of simple prevention measures such as limit time in the midday sun, seek shade when UV rays are most intense, wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses, and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen of sun protection.
“Protecting children from extended periods in the sun is particularly important as excessive sun exposure during these early years can significantly increase the risk of UV-related diseases later in life,” it said.
The UN health agency added, “The SunSmart Global UV app is available free of charge at both the Apple App and Google Play stores.
The SunSmart Global UV app
“It provides exposure, a major cause of skin cancer and other UV-related diseases.
“Also, the app provides five-day UV and weather forecasts at searchable locations.
“The app allows the inclusion of national and local data streams and adaptation to multiple languages – it is currently available in Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, Dutch, and Spanish.”
The Federal Government plans to prosecute users of Polychlorinated Biphenyl, popularly known as transformer oil, in frying “Akara” (bean cake), plantain chips, chicken and other food items.
Prof. Babajide Alloy, a Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Environment, disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of a workshop in Calabar.
According to him, the consumption of food prepared from the chemical substance will expose the public to cancers of the lungs, heart, kidney and liver diseases.
“For a long time, PCBs was the cooling liquid used in electrical transformers, until the world found out that this oil was toxic, and is trying to phase it out.
“Jail term awaits those caught using PCBs to fry Akara, chicken and plantain chips at the roadside to sell to the public because the oil is toxic and carcinogenic.
“We found out that it is all over the place in Nigeria, dump sites, and in old National Electric Power Authority compounds,” he said.
Alloy said a survey carried out by the ministry revealed that the oil was currently being used in making food like Akara.
Transormer Oil
The consultant added that the unsuspecting public were being deceived by the likeness of the oil to the commonly used groundnut oil.
“Some food vendors now mix PCBs with groundnut oil to fry Akara and sell to the general public.
“Of course, they may not know how hazardous what they are doing is. This exercise is to sensitise policymakers and everyone about this malaise.
“It is important to note that spillage of PCBs is always a danger when equipment is to be transported; it should, therefore, be transported only in sealed containers,” he said.
The workshop was organised for state councils, regulatory bodies, power operators and customs officers on the application of PCB regulations and guidelines for Environmentally Sound Management (ESM) of PCBs.
A nutritionist and President of the Federation of African Nutrition Societies, Prof. Ngozi Nnam, says eating mangoes does not cause diarrhoea.
Nnam, a professor of Community and Public Health Nutrition, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said the claim by some people that consuming mangoes causes diarrhoea is untrue.
The nutritionist disclosed this during an interview, affirming that mango or any other fruit could only cause diarrhoea if it’s contaminated and not properly washed.
The don said, “Many people will tell you that if you eat a mango, it will cause diarrhoea. But this is not true.
“A mango does not cause diarrhoea. It’s just that the mango may have been contaminated right from the harvesting period right up until the time you bought it.
“When the individual buys the mango; if it’s not properly washed and it’s contaminated with bacteria and other harmful organisms, that could lead to diarrhoea.”
The World Health Organisation says diarrhoea is usually a symptom of an infection in the intestinal tract, which can be caused by a variety of bacterial, viral, and parasitic organisms.
“Infection is spread through contaminated food or drinking water, or from person to person as a result of poor hygiene.
“Diarrhoeal disease is the second leading cause of death in children under five years old and is responsible for killing around 525 000 children every year.
“Diarrhoea can last several days and can leave the body without the water and salts that are necessary for survival,” WHO noted
Prof. Nnam said people should properly wash their mangoes and fruits generally before eating them, stressing that they may have been contaminated in the harvesting and handling period.
“Flies could have perched on the mangos when they dropped on the ground as they are harvesting them because they are in the bush.
And you have a lot of spoilt mangos that have attracted flies.
Mangoes
“So, they can perch on the ones you have harvested and contaminate them.
“What this calls for is that whenever you buy fruits and vegetables, you need to wash them thoroughly under a running tap so that you can remove all these bacteria that have been deposited on them.
“You can use salt to wash them because salt can destabilise those bacteria,” the nutritionist said
According to her, vegetables must be washed thoroughly under running water because they may have been contaminated by insect larva while they were on the farm.
She noted that the running water would help wash off the lava.
Prof. Nnam further said, “When we don’t wash our fruits and vegetables well that leads to diarrhoea and loss of nutrients we could have obtained.
“And you know that fruits and vegetables are very good sources of many of the vitamins. Many of the vitamins have antioxidant properties and they help to boost our immune system.
“If you lose those vitamins from your fruits and vegetables, you are weakening your immune system and exposing the body to oxidative stress. “
The nutritionist advised Nigerians to wash their fruits and vegetables very well, so that they don’t get contaminated by bacteria that are all over the environment.
According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the safest fruits and vegetables are cooked; the next safest are those washed.
“Avoid unwashed fresh produce. Eating fresh produce provides important health benefits, but sometimes raw fruits and vegetables may cause food poisoning from harmful germs such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria.
“Fresh fruits and vegetables can be contaminated anywhere along the journey from farm to table, including by cross-contamination in the kitchen external icon,” the CDC said.
