Joshua Told To Chase Titles Not Wilder Fight

0

Former world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has been warned against stepping into the ring against Deontay Wilder by Hall of Fame fighter Barry McGuigan.

Joshua versus Wilder is one of the most intriguing match-ups in boxing.

The two heavyweights seem to have finally agreed that it’s the right time to face off after they both lost their titles and can no longer make a unification bout.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, former featherweight champion McGuigan said it was good that the fight had been delayed considering the threat for Joshua.

“It’s disappointing, but if I’m managing Anthony Joshua I wouldn’t go near Wilder. Wilder has got tremendous power. I know he’s vulnerable and he’s been stopped and all of that sort of stuff by Fury, he has the sort of punch that he can hit you from the back of the room and knock your head off.

“Why would you take the risk of that? I don’t think it’s a bad idea to avoid it, certainly at this stage. If I were him I’d want to win the world title again, so either fight Fury or fight Usyk again,” he said.

Promoter Eddie Hearn tells Boxing Social that the hard-hitting American is still very much the target for his charge, even despite the task of now finding a new site. He is also still open to Joshua fighting this December against a new opponent if the fight can’t be finalised soon.

As for Wilder, it looks like he’ll remain inactive until he gets his hands on Joshua. Talks of a fight with Andy Ruiz Jr has fallen apart due to a dispute on the earnings for Ruiz.

Exploring The Tallest Waterfall In Palau, Ngardmau Waterfall

0

The Ngardmau Waterfall is considered to be the tallest waterfall that can be found on the main island of Babeldaob, which is part of the sovereign state in free association with the United States, the Republic of Palau.

Being known also as the tallest waterfall in the entire Micronesia region, Ngardmau Waterfall flows from the highest peak of the nation, Mount Ngerchelchuus.

Having some 20 meters (66 feet) in height, the water falls in a pool in which visitors who would like to hike half an hour to reach this stupendous gem, can swim a bit in the cool and very clean water.

Surrounded by lush vegetation in the rainforest, although Ngardmau Waterfall is considered to be a popular tourist attraction, it is not very visited by tourists, which makes it a very interesting getaway place from the crowded big island. Certainly a great natural treasure which Palauans can be really proud of.

The waterfall was designated the “Taki” Conservation Area in 2005 and expanded in area in 2010.

The conservation area includes a variety of terrestrial habitats, with upland old-growth forest, savanna, river, swamp forest, and secondary forest.

The conservation area is part of the Middle Ridge Important Bird Area. The endangered Micronesian megapode has been observed there, in addition to other endemic birds.https://www.seacology.org/project/213-palau/

There is increasing local concern about the safety and stability of the trail to the waterfall.

Visitors must walk down a series of steep stairs cut into the hillside, follow a low-lying, muddy path through the forest, and ford a stream before they reach the waterfall.

The constant foot traffic on the dirt trail has substantially increased erosion and sedimentation into the river.

This threatens the community water source, river fauna, and marine flora and fauna at the river mouth.

In collaboration with the Palau Conservation Society, Seacology will fund one of the most urgent restoration  tasks: the design and construction of a 280-foot boardwalk through low-lying forest.

Price of 12.5kg Cooking Gas Hits N12,500

2

Price of 12.5kg of Liquefied Natural Gas or cooking gas has increased to N12,500 as Nigeria celebrates her 63rd Independence anniversary.

Market survey by news correspondent revealed that gas retailers had jerked up prices of 12.5kg from N10,000 reported towards the end of last month, to around N12,500 in Lagos.

LN247 had reported how the President, Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, Olatunbosun Oladapo, warned that the price of 12.5kg cooking gas could hit as high as N18,000 by December if the Federal Government did not checkmate the activities of the terminal owners.

However, despite the warning, Olatunbosun told The PUNCH on Monday, that the government was yet to wade into the crisis.

“Yes, the price is now N1,000 per kilogram but the government is yet to step in despite a meeting we had with the NMDPRA,” he said.

According to him, gas retailers still buy 20 metric tons of gas for N14m at the depot.

12.5kg Cooking Gas Price May Hit N18,000 December

“We still buy a 20 MT truck at N14m at the depots. And the price of diesel has increased that it now costs N1.7m to take gas from Lagos to the North due to the high cost of diesel. If we sell here at N1,000 per 1kg, just imagine how much it would cost in the Middle East and North.

“What we pray for is for prices to come down so that the ordinary masses can benefit from the decade of gas policy of the Federal Government that seeks to make gas accessible and affordable for the common man.”

In September, terminal owners jerked up the price of cooking gas from between N9m-N10m per 20 metric tons to N14m.

“There is a ridiculous hike in gas prices going on right now, and I am afraid that if the Federal Government does not step in to checkmate the activities of these terminal owners, price could reach as high as N18m for a 20 metric tons truck by December. This means that a 12.5kg could go as high as N18,000”.

According to him; terminal owners were “hiding under the guise of high foreign exchange to increase price, and further increase the suffering of the masses,” he said.

Court to Hear FG’s N30bn Suit Against Meta in October

0

The Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, will in October hear the N30bn suit lodged by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria against Meta Platforms Incorporated (owners of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms) and its agent AT3 Resources Limited.

The Director-General of ARCON, Olalekan Fadolapo, made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with The PUNCH.

ARCON is seeking a declaration among others that the continued publication and exposure of various advertisements directed at the Nigerian market through Facebook and Instagram platforms by Meta Platforms Incorporated, without ensuring the same is vetted and approved before exposure is illegal, unlawful and a violation of the extant advertising Law in Nigeria.

ARCON Sues Meta, Demands N30 Billion

According to the apex regulatory body for advertising in the country, Meta Platforms Incorporated’s continued exposure of unvetted adverts had led to a loss of revenue to the Federal Government.

Fadolapo, while speaking, confirmed that the Federal High Court in Abuja had granted ARCON a leave to serve a writ of summons to Meta. The writ was served at the company’s United States corporate headquarters.

He said the decision to serve the company at its corporate headquarters became necessary after Meta claimed that it did not have any physical office in Nigeria.

He said, “The case is coming up this October, because the level of shenanigans that is happening in that place (Facebook) is too much. But trust me, we will use all legal means to sanitise that space.

“What we are saying is that what they are showing to the Nigerian audience, which is our territorial space is indecent. We will not go and regulate the media in the US, but what we will do is regulate the media space here in Nigeria.

“They said they don’t have an office in Nigeria, but they are doing business in Nigeria. So, we are not concerned about their office, we are concerned about the business they are doing in Nigeria. If you are doing business in Nigeria, you are supposed to abide by Nigerian laws.”
