0

The magnetic attraction that the Saudi Pro League have on ageing stars in Europe may soon net in Senegal’s Sadio Mane. His german club, Bayern Munich has revealed that the reigning African Footballer of year  is in talks over a potential move.

He is most likely  going to Join Cristiano Ronaldo as the  Senegal forward, 31, has received an offer to join Al Nassr.

It was that club to triggered off the movements of stars to Saudi Arabia after netting Ronaldo at the start of the 2023 season.

Mane travelled on Bayern’s pre-season tour of Asia but has been left out of Saturday’s friendly with Kawasaki Frontale in Tokyo.

“Sadio Mane is in contract talks ahead of a possible transfer and so is not in today’s squad,” the German club revealed.

Mane only joined Bayern last summer, signing a three-year contract after a 35m Pounds move from Liverpool.

He scored 12 goals in 38 appearances as Bayern won an 11th straight Bundesliga title.

But he fell out of favour during an underwhelming season, reportedly punching teammate Leroy Sane following a Champions League defeat by Manchester City in April, for which Mane was dropped from the squad as well as fined.

Al-Nassr signed five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo  in December and have followed up this summer by signing Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic,  Brazil full-back Alex Tellas and Cote d’Ivoire’s  midfielder Seko Fofana.

First Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, Felix Anyansi-Agwu has declared that the Nigeria Football Federation is proud of the Super Falcons’ outing so far at the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals, while expressing confidence that the team will get to the latter stages of the tournament.

After two matches at the global showpiece in Down Under, the Falcons have earned four points, with a draw against Canada and defeat of co-host nation Australia, in itself a record for Nigeria’s participation at the championship that began in 1991.

“I am aware that our country has been in the quarter-finals of the World Cup previously in 1999, but I also know the four points we have now is the best harvest we have made after just two matches. That is gladdening, even as we encourage the girls to keep their eyes on the ball and do the business against the Republic of Ireland.

“So much is possible if the team stays focused and ambitious, which is what they have shown in their first two matches,” said Anyansi-Agwu, who is the leader of Nigeria’s delegation here.

Nigeria is one of only seven countries to have played in every single edition of the FIFAWomen’s World Cup since it started in 1991, but the Falcons’ best harvests previously after two matches have been their three points at the 2019 finals in France. In 1999, when they defeated North Korea after losing to the USA, two points were still awarded for a win in the game.

The Falcons take on the Republic of Ireland’s ‘Girls in Green’ on Monday night in Brisbane, needing a point from the encounter to be sure of a place in the knockout rounds.

The largest U.S. solar power site and other clean energy projects could be built on lands owned by the Department of Energy, including where components for Cold War-era atomic bombs were developed, the agency said on Friday.

The DOE said it has identified about 70,000 acres (283 square kilometers) of land across five states, most of which has been used as a buffer for national security purposes, that could eventually host clean energy projects including solar, wind and nuclear power.

“These sites are all safe now, they are completely clean and ready for redevelopment,” U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said at an event at her department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Granholm presented the Cleanup to Clean Energy plan to help achieve President Joe Biden’s clean electricity goals. The administration wants the U.S. grid to run on clean energy by 2035. Many of the sites already have power customers and work forces, officials said.

The event included developers of renewable power and nuclear power, involving participants with experience implementing clean electricity projects generating at least 200 megawatts.

The DOE identified lands at the following sites for potential development:

-Hanford Site, Richland, Washington

-Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho Falls, Idaho

-Nevada Nuclear Security Site, Nye County, Nevada

-Savannah River Site, Aiken, South Carolina

China Warns Of Third Typhoon In Three Weeks As Khanun Forms

0

Chinese forecasters on Saturday warned of the approach of Tropical Storm Khanun, expected to rapidly gain typhoon strength and strike China’s densely populated coast sometime next week.

Khanun, now more than 1,000km (620 miles) east of the Philippine archipelago in the Pacific, may make landfall in China’s economically important Zhejiang province as early as Tuesday, Chinese forecasters said.

Typhoons, as hurricanes are called in East Asia, are common in China, often threatening big cities.

As many as 150 Chinese cities suffer from flooding each year due to inadequate drainage systems, disrupting local economies and even claiming lives.

As the Western Pacific enters its peak typhoon season in August and September, scientists warn storms could grow more frequent and violent due to global warming. Khanun would be the third typhoon to hit China after the powerful Doksuri on Friday and Talim just a week earlier.

Global average sea surface temperatures hit 21 Celsius (69.8 Fahrenheit) in late March and remained at record levels for the time of year throughout April and May. In the Florida Keys last week, the surface ocean temperature soared to abnormally high levels.

Temperatures on land have also smashed records this year as heatwaves ravaged much of the Northern Hemisphere – from Canada and the United States to the Mediterranean, India and China.

A remote township in northwest China endured temperatures of 52.2C earlier in July, setting a new record for the country.

Ford Motor (F.N) said Friday it is recalling 870,000 F-150 trucks in the United States because of the risk of an unexpected activation of the electric parking brake due to a potential wiring issue.

The recall covers 2021 through 2023 model year F-150 trucks, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It covers trucks equipped with a single exhaust system. Contact with the rear axle housing may damage the wiring harness, causing the electric parking brake to activate unexpectedly, the automaker said.

Ford said it has received 918 warranty claims and three field reports for the wire chafing condition in North America. Of those, 299 indicated the electric parking brake had activated unintentionally including 19 while driving.

Ford said it is not aware of crashes or injuries related to the recall.

Dealers will install a protective tie strap, tape wrap and replace the harness as necessary.
