Alkali also insisted that all parties including their agents must adhere to the rules of the game, stressing that the commission was poised to support the advancement of democracy and democratic processes.

“We will not waiver our responsibility to doing the needful. We want as much as possible to avoid any confusion in order to safeguard against issues and misunderstandings.

“Parties should ensure that only one agent or representative is to each PU.

“We don’t want to experience any loss of life or bloodletting as we witnessed some disruption and disturbance at some PUs in the last exercise,” he said.

Alkali, flanked by the Acting REC, Barrister Hauwa Kangiwa, and other top officials of the commission, urged party leaders and stalwarts to educate their supporters and members to be on peaceful conduct during the exercise.

He said INEC remained a neutral body and assured that the security agencies were adequately in synergy to provide needed security throughout the exercise.

However, representatives of all registered political parties in the state in attendance pledged to abide by the rules of the game.

The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says it has for the first time in the history of Northern Nigeria, discovered a cannabis sativa farm in the area.

The Deputy Commander of the agency, Idris Usman, who revealed this while speaking on the recent achievements by the command, also said they intercepted 1,730 bottles of codeine-based syrups and 8,000 capsules of tramadol from 2 other suspects.

NDLEA Exposes Plans To Import Deadly Drugs Into Nigerian Market

The first cannabis farm discovered in the northern part of the country is at Saboshi Village in the Dutsi Local Government Area of Katsina State, which the NDLEA described as shocking and worrisome.

According to the Deputy Commander of the agency, Idris Usman, the cannabis farm owned by 30-year-old Mas’ud Bukar, was mixed with other crops, to deceive officers and men of the NDLEA.

Usman further added that during their Stop And Search Operation on the Kano-Katsina highway, the command intercepted two different suspects, Bashir Sa’adu and Muhammadu Yusuf 29 years old, with 1,730 bottles of codeine-based syrups, worth over 10 million Naira, and 8,000 capsules of tramadol.

While warning parents to take adequate care of their children to fight against drug abuse, Usman added that the command will not rest until it reduces the availability and consumption of drugs in the state, even as the 3 suspects, will soon be prosecuted.

Osimhen May Pair With Sadio Mane At Bayern Munich

Nigeria’s in-form striker, Victor Osimhen appears to be the most sort for commodity in football transfer market this coming summer window.

Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich has joined the race for the red-hot striker as the club hopes to upstage early contenders, Manchester United and Chelsea.

If that comes to fruition, the current African Footballer of the Year, Sadio Mane may play side-by-side with his projected successor, Victor Osimhen.

Sky Sports has reported that the German side is determined to fortify its attacking option with Osimhen as the main target and information also emerged that the Napoli FC cult hero is said to have given the offer a thought in a bid to avoid the pressure that is associated with glamorous English Premiership League.

After a below par outing on Tuesday night at Manchester City Etihad stadium in 3-0 thumping, Bayern are looking for a new top striker for the coming season. According to Sky Information, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is the main target.

If the transfer is effected, Osimhen may pair with African Footballer of the Year, Senegal’s Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich.

Transfer expert and Sky reporter, Florian Plettenberg, clearly: “Osimhen wants and would switch to Bayern immediately. He’s in the mood for Munich. He was already in the Bundesliga and didn’t ignite at Wolfsburg, but the signs have changed.”

The Napoli striker announced in March that it was his dream to play in England. But according to Sky information, the Nigerian can definitely imagine a move to Bayern:

However, the Premiership giants like Manchester United and Chelsea have enough fund at disposal to lure the striker away from Napoli while Bayern Munich will have to bed its $100m transfer policy to archive its pursuit.

According to Sky information, the FCB bosses are preparing for a difficult search, which should also be very expensive. The previous record fee of 80 million for Lucas Hernandez should be surpassed. Sky Sport knows that the German record champions are definitely able to handle a 100million euro transfer.

Aside Osimhen, the club is also looking in the direction of Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani in a price range that Bayern could afford.

But way back last month, the media reported that there was an exchange between FCB and the Osimhen’s management, in which those responsible at Munich made it clear that they had a very high opinion of the attacker.

Villarreal’s €80m Buyout Could Dent Chukwueze’s Move To Real Madrid

Villarreal’s €80 Million buyout clause on the Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze, could dent his move to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid president Fiorentina Pérez reportedly expressed interest in signing the talented Nigerian winger to team up with Brazilian superstar Vinícius Júnior, but the attacker’s desired transfer may be thwarted by an €80 million release clause.

The Nigerian star began his career with the Yellow Submarine in 2018 for a sum of €500k, and since then, he has shown much more value in the Spanish league than he was signed for.

Real Madrid has recently been keeping a close eye on the Nigerian international after his outstanding performance for Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu, according to soccernet report.

Having netted a brace and dazzled in the presence of the fans, the Spanish businessman has made his interest known that he would love to bolster the Vikings’ squad with the inclusion of the Super Eagles star.

But, the Groguet, who have the intention of selling the Nigerian for a fee in the range of €80 million and €75 million and making a profit, could dash Chukwueze’s dream of following the footstep of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, in Madrid.

Ronaldo’s Manager At Al Nassr, Rudi Garcia Sacked

0

Al Nassr has announced that head coach, Rudi Garcia has left the club by mutual agreement.

Garcia has been fired due to his poor relationship with the dressing room, which includes Cristiano Ronaldo.

He recently confronted the players, a move which proved costly, as the Saudi Pro League club has taken the decision to dismiss him.

Garcia has also failed to live up to the expectations set out in his club’s ambitious project.

With seven fixtures left to play, Al Nassr is currently in second place, three points behind Al Ittihad.

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent his well wishes to Rudi Garcia after the manager’s Al-Nassr exit was confirmed.

The Frenchman was appointed by the Saudi club less than a year ago, but on Thursday it was announced he would be leaving via a mutual agreement. “Al-Nassr can announce that Head Coach Rudi Garcia has left the Club by mutual agreement,” a statement reads.

“The board and everyone at Al-Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past eight months.”

Garcia leaves Al-Nassr with the title favourites in second place, despite the January arrival of Ronaldo. The 38-year-old signed a record breaking contract valued at £173million per year and has 11 goals in his first 10 Saudi Pro League games.

But even with that influx of talent, Ronaldo’s side have dropped from top spot, trailing Al-Ittihad by three points. Garcia departs after failing to win two of their last four league matches, including a disappointing stalemate with Al Feiha last time out.

Ronaldo vented his frustration following the drab 0-0 draw, ranting at both the opposition and his own team-mates. The Portuguese legend then stormed down the tunnel, leaving Garcia and his squad to leave the pitch without him.

Reports in Portugal then emerged that Ronaldo was dissatisfied with the direction of the club under the ex-Lyon boss. Dint AS claim he made his feelings clear behind the scenes, believing that with a different manager in the dugout they could play to a higher level.

Ronaldo will reportedly play a key role in the process of finding a new manager

However, publicly at least, Ronaldo has paid tribute to his former boss, taking to social media almost immediately after the news was confirmed: “Pleasure to have worked with you. Wishing you all the best for the future.”

His public farewell marks a different tactic to the one he deployed in the wake of Fernando Santos’ sacking as Portugal boss after the World Cup. Ronaldo won the European Championship alongside the veteran boss, but the pair endured a difficult final major tournament together.

Santos opted to drop Portugal’s record scorer from the starting line-up in the knockout stages, with his partner Georgina Rodriguez aiming an angry blast after their elimination vs Morocco. Rumours of a rift were denied, but Ronaldo decided not to join many of his international colleagues in thanking him for his time in charge of the national team.

Joshua May Cancel December Fight Over Boxing Tourney

0

Anthony Joshua’s fight delay could be due to talks over a four-man heavyweight tournament with Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk.

The British star returned after back-to-back defeats by Usyk when he outpointed Jermaine Franklin in London to return to winning ways. It was expected Joshua would continue a rebuild of his heavyweight career this summer, after urging fans to remain patient with him as he continues to step up the levels of opponent again.

A second meeting against Dillian Whyte touted for the summer given their respective victories over Franklin. However ‘AJ’ stunned the world by announcing on social media that his next fight would be delayed until December.

Nigerian Leader Hails Anthony Joshua’s Victory

But radio host Jordan has a new theory that Joshua could be set to announce a huge fight with Wilder, while Fury faces Andy Ruiz Jr before going on to take on Usyk. He said on the talkBOXING show:“There’s a lingering observation and, I suppose rumour, that’s seeded I think in some substance – that there is a series of fights being arranged in the Middle East that involve Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Wilder.

“Three fights being made which are Fury vs Usyk, Wilder vs Joshua and the two winners of those fights meeting again in the Middle East for the ultimate showdown. That would align with the dynamic of the reasons why Anthony Joshua isn’t fighting until December. The second part of this equation that I’m understanding is potentially in the offing is that Fury needs to fight.”

He added: “He won’t have fought since December, he can’t be out for a year. He will [fight in the summer]. What I’m led to believe is he will get out against Andy Ruiz. “When you see that make-up, if it were to be that way, money talks. And if the Middle Eastern guys are really doing this, then they will throw the money at it and the fights will happen.”

Heavy Rains In Iran Trigger Flash Floods

0

Heavy rains have triggered flash flooding in northern and western Iran, killing at least two people.

According to Pirhossein Koulivand, the head of the country’s emergency services, one fatality was reported in Qazvin province and the other in Ilam province in the past 24 hours, the state TV said.

Kolivand also reported a third fatality, in West Azerbaijan province, where a person died from a lightning strike.

Iran’s meteorological department has warned of the seasonal rains in many areas across the country, including in the capital of Tehran.

Iran has suffered a decadeslong drought and the flood is blamed on climate change, as well as a disregard of safety measures such as construction of buildings and roads near river beds.

In July 2022, at least 61 people died in landslides and flash floods across the country.
