Breaking: Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks Edun, Dangiwa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, resulting in the exit of two ministers from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the appointment of new replacements.

The development was disclosed in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, which confirmed that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, will leave the cabinet.

Under the new arrangement, Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated to assume the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

In the housing sector, President Tinubu named Muttaqha Rabe Darma as ministerial nominee and minister designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, replacing Dangiwa.

According to the memo, both outgoing ministers have been directed to conclude all handover processes, with the transition expected to be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The SGF said the changes are part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve policy delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance, as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians,” Akume said.

He added that President Tinubu exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the cabinet reshuffle.

The Presidency also described the move as part of an ongoing process of reinvigoration within the administration, with assurances that efforts to enhance cabinet performance would continue.

President Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The cabinet adjustment comes amid ongoing reforms by the administration aimed at repositioning the economy and improving service delivery across key sectors.
