FG Launches AI Training for 6,000 Secondary School Teachers

The Federal Government has introduced a five-week training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) pedagogy for 6,000 senior secondary school teachers nationwide.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Murufu Tunji Alausa, urged participants to maximize the opportunity to enhance their teaching skills and contribute to national development. The minister, represented by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of the Senior Secondary Education Department (NSSEC), emphasized that education remains the foundation of meaningful progress. He highlighted the importance of integrating modern technology into teaching and learning.

The Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, called on state governments, school administrators, and private sector stakeholders to support the initiative. He also stressed the need for investment in infrastructure, teacher training, and student welfare to ensure inclusive educational advancement.

Dr. Ajayi further noted that integrating AI into pedagogy presents a transformative opportunity to personalize education, enhance learning experiences, and develop critical thinking skills among students.
