The Flamingos dominated much of the encounter at the Mohammed VI Football Academy but struggled to break down Venezuela’s determined defence.

Venezuela goalkeeper Valeria Rebanales made several crucial saves, denying Nigeria an early breakthrough.

Tosin Rafiu and Mary Dunstan were among the Nigerian players who threatened the Venezuelan goal during the first half.

However, the decisive moment arrived in the closing minutes when Oluebube Umejiaku was fouled inside the penalty area.

Following a video assistant referee (VAR) review, the referee upheld the penalty decision.

Oduntan stepped forward and converted in the 89th minute, giving Nigeria the lead.

The Flamingos protected their advantage through stoppage time to secure qualification.
