Galatasaray’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen from Napoli is gaining momentum after the Turkish champions secured a sponsor to cover 70% of the transfer fee. According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, the club is negotiating a reduction in the €75 million fee to €70 million due to prior payments made. After discussions with two major Turkish companies, one agreed to cover the bulk of the transfer cost, leaving Galatasaray to pay just 30%.
Napoli has requested €25 million upfront, with the remaining balance to be paid in two installments. As a result, Galatasaray is actively exploring financial solutions to finalize the deal.
The Turkish side moved quickly after rival Fenerbahçe expressed interest in Osimhen through their coach, José Mourinho. While initially reassured when Osimhen stated, “I am very happy here,” Fenerbahçe is now seeking ways to convince Napoli to part with the Nigerian striker. They have also engaged agent Mirsad Türkcan, who has been negotiating with sponsors and received a positive response.
Fenerbahçe, despite not meeting directly with Osimhen, hopes to leverage the club’s strong relationship with Napoli from previous transfers, including Eljif Elmas, to secure the deal. The competition for Osimhen’s signature is fierce, with both clubs aware of the substantial investment required. The striker, who currently earns €12 million annually, is expected to receive €36 million over three years if transferred.
Galatasaray’s president, Dursun Özbek, is leading the charge to bring Osimhen to the club with a dedicated team, including Kavukcu and Buruk. They plan to meet with Osimhen’s agent, George Gardi, in Italy to discuss the next steps.
Osimhen has made a significant impact since joining Galatasaray in September, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in just nine matches across all competitions.
