Israel has donated a first batch of ambulances, medical equipment and wheelchairs to Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and emergency response in the country.
The items were handed over at the Port of Ashdod by Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, on behalf of the Israeli Government.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Ufochukwu, received the consignment and expressed appreciation for the support.
She said the donation would help improve Nigeria’s healthcare system and strengthen emergency response services, particularly in underserved communities.
The consignment includes fully equipped ambulances, modern medical equipment and mobility aids such as wheelchairs.
The donated items are expected to be distributed to hospitals and emergency centres across Nigeria, where they will support patient care, emergency medical services and disaster response operations.
The donation highlights the growing cooperation between Nigeria and Israel in healthcare, humanitarian assistance and technology transfer.
It also reflects Israel’s support for Nigeria’s efforts to expand access to healthcare and develop a stronger and more resilient health system.
“We deeply appreciate Israel’s commitment to saving lives and deepening bilateral ties. This donation is a clear demonstration of friendship and solidarity between our two nations,” Ambassador Ufochukwu stated.
Officials from Magen David Adom, representatives of Israel’s Ministry of Health and members of the Nigerian Embassy in Tel Aviv attended the handover ceremony.
The latest gesture is expected to further strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Israel while providing additional resources for emergency healthcare and medical services in Nigeria.
