JAMB Suspends Law Admissions in Eight Universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended admissions for the Law programme in eight universities across Nigeria.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, announced this decision in a statement on Wednesday, citing the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme by the Council of Legal Education for the 2025/2026 academic session in the affected institutions.

The universities impacted by this directive include:

  • Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
  • Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
  • Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
  • Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
  • Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
  • Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
  • Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
  • Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State

Notably, the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, will last for two academic sessions—2025/2026 and 2026/2027.

“As a result, JAMB will not process admissions for candidates applying to study Law at these institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement read.

Additionally, the Nigerian Police Academy will remain ineligible for Law programme registrations through the 2026/2027 academic session.
