Makinde to Launch 3,000-Hectare Agribusiness Hub

In November, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is set to break ground on a 3,000-hectare agribusiness industrial hub in Eruwa, located in the Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state.

The announcement was made by Dr. Debo Akande, Director General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), who shared details on the ambitious project aimed at boosting agribusiness opportunities in the region.

This new industrial hub, spanning 3,000 hectares, is poised to be three times the size of the Fashola Agribusiness Industrial Hub in the Oyo zone, which covers 1,000 hectares.

Dr. Akande highlighted the assurance of investor interest, affirming that the Eruwa hub will serve as a significant center for agricultural activities and development in Oyo State.

Addressing questions about the Fashola hub’s impact on neighboring communities, Dr. Akande explained that products from the Fashola farms are primarily for local consumption rather than export.

He emphasized that while these goods may appear in larger retail stores, they largely remain within Nigeria’s borders, addressing public concerns about local access.

Looking ahead, Dr. Akande mentioned that once the Eruwa hub is operational, the Ijaye agribusiness hub will become the state government’s next focal project, signaling continued investment in agribusiness expansion across Oyo State.
