To improve collaboration in the mining industry, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria Leilani Bin-Juda visited Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake.
Alake was invited by the High Commissioner to the African Down Under (ADU) conference, which will take place in Perth, Australia, on September 4-6, 2024.
The High Commissioner emphasized Nigeria’s possible advantages and the conference’s chances for bilateral interactions when she was there.

The launch of a brand-new, free platform created by Geoscience Australia, especially for Africa was a major topic of conversation.
The cutting-edge technology provides free, top-notch training and real-time data access while tracking and monitoring mining activity throughout the continent using satellite data.
The High Commissioner emphasized how this platform has the ability to completely transform how Nigeria controls and administers its mining operations.

Leilani Bin-Juda, accompanied by Anto Bouckley, the Second Secretary of the Australian High Commission, reaffirmed her dedication to promoting closer relations between the two countries.
She signaled continued cooperation and partnership by stating that she planned to see the Minister once more following the conference.
Dr. Alake thanked Australia for the invitation and reiterated Nigeria’s willingness to strengthen ties with the country, especially in the area of solid minerals.
Mining in Nigeria has the potential to significantly contribute to the country’s economic development.
However, it faces numerous challenges and obstacles that have hindered its growth and potential.
