Nigeria Vs Lesotho: Nigerians Expect Winning Start For Super Eagles

Nigeria’s Super Eagles begin their marathon race to the 2026 World Cup this Thursday as they host Likuena of Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. It is the begin of a 10-match series that will span 47 months.

It is the fifth time both teams will clash in competitive situations. Nigeria won the last four clashes prompting Super Eagles’ fans to expect the continuation of the trend.

All the past four clashes were in the Africa Cup of Nations making this clash a special one. It is the first time they are meeting in a World Cup setting.

Beyond the historical background, the array of strikers in the Super Eagles’ squad easily point to a possible one-sided duel.

The Likuena of Lesotho players arrived Nigeria on Tuesday and are housed in the serene  Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort.

A wide margin win may be desirable as South Africa which completely encircled the small kingdom will most likely beat Lesotho over two legs and possibly do the same with neighbouring Zimbabwe in the Group C qualifiers.
