Congratulations to me as I won the Favourite African Social Media Star category at the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021. I am so happy to be a winner, thank you! To all my fans out there, I say thank you. To all those who voted for me, I love you so much, this win would not have been possible without you.

Emanuella Samuel was just five years old and on a family holiday when she partook in a comedy skit that would shoot her to stardom and win her four international awards.

In the skit titled, “My Real Face,” she deformed her face to avoid the wrath of the headmistress and her daughter.

Her catchphrase “This Is Not My Real Face Oh” quickly became a household slang and a source of fascination for the kid whose actions and words defied her age.

Emanuella’s daring yet hilarious actions evoked laughter and curiosity as to who the little girl was.

Alongside Emanuella who won the award is the popular Ikorodu Bois who have succeeded in using everyday items to make a difference.

Using little things, mostly household equipment at their disposal the kids have endeared themselves to the heart of millions across the world.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, also known as the KCAs or Kids’ Choice, is an annual American children’s awards ceremony show that is produced by Nickelodeon.

2,000-year-old biblical texts found in Israel, 1st since Dead Sea Scrolls

A 2,000-year-old biblical scroll has been unearthed in the Judean desert, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced Tuesday. The groundbreaking discovery marks the first time that such an artifact has been uncovered in decades, since the time of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The two dozen fragments were found in a cave in the Judean Desert, as a result of a several-year-long breathtaking rescue operation with the purpose of surveying all the caves of the area, carried out by the IAA in cooperation with the Archaeology Department of the Civil Administration.

The scroll was written in Greek, but God’s name appears in paleo-Hebrew. It contains passages from the Prophets.

Besides the manuscript, the cave harbored several other unique findings, including a trove of coins from the time of the Bar Kochba Revolt, the skeleton of a child dating back to some 6,000 years, and a 10,000-year-old exceptionally well-preserved basket which experts say might be the earliest item of this kind ever uncovered.

“These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and perfect justice in your gates. And do not contrive evil against one another, and do not love perjury, because all those are things that I hate – declares the Lord,” one of the fragments reads, featuring an excerpt of the biblical book of Zechariah.

“The aim of this national initiative is to rescue these rare and important heritage assets from the robbers’ clutches,” IAA director Israel Hasson said in a press release. “The newly discovered scroll fragments are a wake-up call to the state. Resources must be allocated for the completion of this historically important operation. We must ensure that we recover all the data that has not yet been discovered in the caves, before the robbers do. Some things are beyond value.”

Michelle Obama Reveals Thoughts On Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Interview

Michelle Obama weighed in Monday on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s troubling revelations about the British royal family last week.

The former first lady was asked during a conversation with “Access Hollywood” for her thoughts on the fallout from Oprah Winfrey’s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which aired March 7 on CBS.

“My hope is that when I think about what they’re going through, I think about the importance of family, and I just pray that there is forgiveness and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point in time,” Obama said.

“Because there’s nothing more important than family.”

Obama, who was interviewed by Meghan for the September 2019 issue of British Vogue, has referred to the former “Suits” actor as a friend, praising her as a “thoughtful leader who is breaking the mold and making our world better for it” in an Instagram post at the time.

The interview dominated international news headlines last week, sending shockwaves through Buckingham Palace. The royal institution was accused of being racist, allowing toxic behavior and failing to protect or even help Meghan when she asked for it while going through a mental health crisis.

Harry said he felt he had to step back from his family in order to preserve his own mental health, as well as that of his wife and son, Archie. Though he expressed hurt toward his father, Prince Charles, about how his family was treated, he said he hoped their relationship could be repaired.

“But at the same time, of course I will always love him. But there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened, and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship,” he said.

Grammy Awards: Kanye West Wins Best Contemporary Christian Music Album For “Jesus Is King”

Kanye West won his 22nd Grammy on Sunday for his album “Jesus Is King” months after he peed on his past trophy in a shocking video on social media.

The Christian rapper won the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for his 2019 album “Jesus Is King,” which is imbued with his message of evangelical salvation. West did not appear at the virtual ceremony to accept the award – his first Grammy win in eight years since he nabbed three Grammys in the rap categories in 2013.

After years of hinting that he would drop a faith-based album, West released “Jesus Is King” in October 2019, in a year that saw him travel with his impromptu “Sunday Service” shows — a church-like concert series featuring gospel choirs.

West is one of the world’s best-selling music artists, with more than 20 million albums and 140 million singles sold worldwide. He has won a total of 22 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded artists of all time.

Among his other awards include the Billboard Artist Achievement Award, a joint-record three Brit Awards for Best International Male Solo Artist and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Six of his albums have been included on Rolling Stone’s 2020 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list; the same publication named him one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time.

FG urges Nigerians to be vigilant, says it can’t secure every school in the country

0

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to be vigilant to end attacks on schools and the abduction of students.

The statement was made through the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who indicated that the government could not secure every school in the country.

According to him, government has directed schools to report any security threat to the nearest security agency.

In the interview, the minister was asked what government was doing to protect schools from incessant attacks by bandits.

He responded, “Eternal vigilance is the price for security. Every nation is always concerned about the consciousness of its people. The Federal Government cannot secure every house. Everybody needs to be vigilant. We have passed this message to all our schools so that anywhere they are, if there is any threat, they know the nearest security agency to contact.”

Nwajiuba also claimed that almost all schools in the country were fenced. “Almost all the schools in Nigeria, whether private or owned by the Federal Government, are mostly all fenced, except maybe some state schools.

“As you may also be aware, even if you put up a fence, these people (bandits) have been known to come through gates.

“So, perimeter fencing, by themselves, are not too effective. The security consciousness is the thing. If you hear where some of them are being held, you will know that it is a question of self-consciousness  and communities informing officials on time.”

CAN sues FG over the implementation of CAMA Law

0

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has sued the federal government over the implementation of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.

On August 7, President Muhammadu Buhari signed CAMA into law. The law stipulates that religious bodies and charity organisations will be regulated by the registrar-general of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a minister.

CAMA 2020 provides that the commission may by order, suspend the trustees of an association or a religious body and appoint an interim manager or managers to coordinate its affairs, where it reasonably believes that there has been any misconduct or mismanagement, or where the affairs of the association are being run fraudulently, or where it is necessary or desirable for the purpose of public interest.

The Christian body has filed a suit with the number FHC/ABJ/CS/244/2021 at the federal high court in Abuja, over the regulation which has been reportedly gazette.

In a statement on Monday, Joseph Daramola, CAN’s general secretary, said the association dragged the federal government to court to contest some provisions of CAMA, which it is not comfortable with.

The case has the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and minister of industry, trade and investment as respondents.

“The association resolved to go to court after all attempts to convince the federal government why it should not intervene or interfere with the management of the Church in the country through any of its agencies failed,” Daramola said.

“The satanic section of the controversial and ungodly law is Section 839 (1) &(2), which empowers the Commission to suspend trustees of an association (in this case, the church) and appoint the interim managers to manage the affairs of the association for some given reasons, is unacceptable.”

Many religious leaders, particularly pastors, have kicked against the law, saying it is a declaration of war on the church.

In September, the Christian body had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend the implementation of the law.

David Oyedepo, presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, said the law was born out of the government’s jealousy of the church.

However, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had counselled church leaders who were aggrieved over CAMA 2020 to approach the national assembly.

THE PROS AND CONS OF EATING RED MEAT

0

Red meat is generally meat derived from farm reared mammals, such as:

  • Pork, ham and other cuts from pigs
  • Lamb
  • Beef

Red meat is a popular food amongst those following a paleo diet, in which food choices are guided by judging which foods would have been available to our ancient ancestors.

Red meat is a source of high quality protein. Protein is an essential component of your diet, but not all protein is equally good for you. One of the most controversial proteins is red meat and it is also known to be rich in essential nutrients like iron.

Public health officials have from time to time urge people to minimize their intake because of the various health risks associated with eating red meat, including increased cholesterol levels in your blood.

A new study that involved over 100,000 postmenopausal women found that women who ate the most processed red meat had a 20% higher risk of dying from dementia in comparison with women who ate the least amount of red meat.

It’s not that red meat is totally bad, but like it’s always said, moderation is key so here are some of nutritional values of red meat:

The heme iron in red meat is easily absorbed by the body. Red meat also supplies vitamin B12, which helps make DNA and keeps nerve and red blood cells healthy, and zinc, which keeps the immune system working properly. Red meat provides protein, which helps build bones and muscles.

So how often should you eat red meat?
If you eat red meat, limit consumption to no more than about three portions per week. Three portions is equivalent to about 350–500g (about 12–18oz) cooked weight. If you are eating processed meat, eat very little.

Worthy of note is that there are other alternatives to obtain adequate protein and iron in legumes and cereals as well several other plants based foods.

Buhari lacks the political will to fight insecurity, banditry – Security Consultant

0

President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the political will to stop insecurity, banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery. This is according to the President of the African Council on Narcotics (ACON) and Security Consultant, Drug and Crime Prevention Specialist, Rekpene Bassey.

Bassey added that the President is not in charge of the government.

“The primary reason for the escalation of insecurity in Nigeria is the lack of political will on the part of the government, if you notice, even the armed forces are politicised.

“You cannot deal with security politically, once you politicise security, there is a tendency that you will get backlash, negative outcome and so on. But with appropriate political will, it will be easy to curb insecurity.

“When a crime is left unchecked there is a tendency that it will escalate because there is no deterrent, others who have been waiting to see the reaction of government or appropriate institutions of security will probably join the fray, more so there is so much poverty in the land or in the country”

Bassey, a former Member of the Cross Rover State Executive Council and Security Adviser to Gov Liyel Imoke said everybody was clamouring for a change of service chiefs and now service chiefs have been changed but the security situation has not abated or changed

“It is so because the security chiefs were only the operation commanders, the people who do the job, how do they feel, how motivated are they, how properly equipped are they, do they have appropriate training, it takes the combination of the right strategy, appropriate political will

‘Why did it take so long to change the service chiefs, was it done professionally and has things changed? I would want to see a situation where the President and Commander in Chief take charge of the security situation in the country, he doesn’t seem to have control of security architecture.

“If he is in charge and in total control and he has constitutional backing and power to appoint and fire service chiefs he should give them marching orders and give them a time limit, for instance, one year, to get the bandit out of the way or failure they will be dealt with and also provide them with the necessary equipment to execute the operation” he stated.
