Shooting Near England’s World Cup Base Leaves 9 Injured

At least nine people have been injured in a shooting near England’s 2026 World Cup training base in Kansas City, raising security concerns just days before the tournament begins.

The incident happened early Saturday on Troost Avenue, roughly four miles from England’s training site at Swope Soccer Village and close to the hotel the team is expected to use during the World Cup.

Police say officers arrived after reports of gunfire and found multiple victims at the scene, while others later made their way to hospitals on their own. All nine injured are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, and no arrests have been made so far.

The England squad was not in Kansas City at the time, as the team is currently training in Florida before moving to the city for their World Cup group stage matches.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, while security officials are working with local and federal agencies ahead of the tournament, which begins on June 11 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Football Association has not yet commented on the incident.
