UNILAG Partners South African Consulate on PhD Thesis Contest

The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos, UNILAG has partnered with the South African Consulate in Lagos to hold a Three-Minute Thesis competition as part of activities to mark the july 18, Nelson Mandela Week for this year.

The UNILAG’s spokesperson, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, gave this hint in a statement, saying the Three- Minute Thesis Competition originated from the University of Queensland (UQ) Australia and designed to help PhD students from around the world to develop skills that would help them to effectively explain their research works in three minutes and in a language suitable to a non-specialist audience.

She said UNILAG adopts the concept in conjunction with the South African Consulate Lagos to showcase research development impacts preferably on Africa continent.

She said the competition is the maiden edition for UNILAG and open to all the interested PhD students from across the world to send in their applications for the award.

She said the only thing is that preference would be given to topics that bring solutions to specific challenges in Africa.
