Bandit Leader Kachalla Threatens Fresh Attacks On Katsina Communities

A notorious bandit leader, Muhammadu Kachalla, has reportedly issued fresh threats against communities in Matazuand Musawa Local Government Areas of Katsina State, warning of renewed attacks if the government fails to release two of his associates and return cattle allegedly seized during recent military operations.

The threats were contained in a viral audio recording believed to feature a conversation between Kachalla and an individual identified as “Comrade.” In the recording, the bandit leader allegedly vowed to escalate violence across the affected communities if his demands are ignored.

Kachalla accused security operatives of destroying homes and killing his cattle during military offensives, claiming the actions had undermined any prospects for peace.

“You have not seen anything yet,”

he allegedly said, adding that he would move from one village to another, killing residents and setting homes ablaze unless his associates were released and his cattle returned.

He also claimed that the military’s recent rescue of kidnapped victims from his camp without negotiations was intended as a display of force rather than a genuine security operation.

According to Kachalla, he had demanded the release of two of his men, but authorities ignored the request.

The bandit leader further alleged that he had already identified several prominent individuals for future abductions, insisting that his group remained more powerful than government forces.

“The people in the communities gave information that led the government to where General Rabe’s wife was being held. Our informants also tell us what is happening in those communities,”

he reportedly said.

Kachalla also boasted that security personnel could not effectively confront his fighters inside the forests, claiming troops only patrol major roads.

“If they enter the bush, we could plant improvised explosive devices on the roads,”

he allegedly threatened.

He further warned that farming activities in the affected communities would become impossible if his demands were not met.

“If my cattle are not returned and my boys are not released, nobody will farm in those communities,”

he said.

Referring to the death of the late retired General Rabe Abubakar, Kachalla claimed he allowed the deceased’s body to be released for burial as an act of goodwill.

“If not because I wanted peace, I would not have released his corpse for burial. I did that to show I am a man of peace,”

he allegedly stated.

When informed that the Katsina State Government was not directly responsible for the recent military operations, Kachalla reportedly dismissed the explanation, arguing that the offensive had done little to weaken his group but had instead increased the suffering of local residents.

He also threatened to order his fighters to kill about 200 people if security operations continued instead of addressing his demands.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor security agencies had issued an official response to the contents of the viral audio recording.
