Vin Diesel’s 10-year-old son, Vincent Sinclair, will be making his big-screen debut this summer in ‘F&F9’, as the younger version of Vin’s character, Dominic Toretto.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Lil Vin’s playing the role of Younger Dominic and actually filmed his scenes way back in late 2019 when he was a budding 9-year-old Thespian.
It is unclear how much screen time Vin Diesel’s son will get, but his minor’s contract says he got paid a daily rate of $1,005.
There was a flashback to a younger Dominic already in ‘Furious 7,’ but the character was played by an actor named Alex McGee.
The ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, about a group of street racers, has raised more than $5 billion in global ticket sales since the first film. The film’s trailer was unveiled in February last year when the world went into lockdown due to a COVID 19 pandemic.
Fast and Furious 9‘s original release date was slated for April 2020 but was pushed back to 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic. The film is now scheduled to arrive on June 25 in theaters worldwide.
Diesel is the father of three children with girlfriend Paloma Jimenez: two girls and one boy. His first daughter, Hania Riley, was born in 2008, followed two years later by a son, Vincent Sinclair, born in 2010. His third child, daughter Pauline, was named after the actor’s late Fast and Furious franchise co-star, Paul Walker.
John Cena is set to join The Fast Saga as F9’s new villain, Jakob Toretto, but his connection to the central character indicates he won’t be a one-dimensional antagonist.
Jakob, is the younger brother of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), who has served as a primary face of the franchise since 2001’s The Fast and the Furious.
Aretha Franklin’s family have denounced a new dramatisation of the music icon’s life, saying they were not consulted and “do not support” the show.
Genius: Aretha stars British Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo, and is being shown in eight parts on US channel National Geographic this week.
But the Queen of Soul’s family say they were cut out of the production process.
They have asked fans to boycott the series, saying: “This is about common, decent respect for our family.”
Franklin’s granddaughter Grace posted a video of her protesting against the show alongside her parents, siblings and friends last week.
In a the TikTok clip, they can be seen chanting: “This movie has to go! This movie has to go!”
“As the immediate family, we feel that it’s important to be involved with any biopic of my grandma’s life, as it’s hard to get any accurate depiction of anyone’s life without speaking to the ones closest to them,” she explained later in the video.
“During the process of writing, directing, and filming this movie, we’ve reached out to Genius as a family on multiple occasions where we have been disrespected and told we will not be worked with.
“As the immediate family – emphasis on immediate – we do not support this film and we ask that you also do not support this film, as we feel extremely disrespected, and we feel there will be many inaccuracies about my grandmother’s life.”
In a statement to The Root on March 17, a National Geographic rep noted the network had received the family’s message, acknowledging “their concern for Ms. Franklin’s legacy.” The rep added that the studio “worked with many people who knew Ms. Franklin,” including Clive Davis and “members of her family’s estate,” in order to make sure they told her story in “an honest and authentic” manner.
“The studio worked diligently to attain the endorsement of Aretha’s estate, which we are grateful to have,” the statement continued. “We think we have a shared goal here — to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Aretha Franklin. We can tell you that everyone who worked on Genius: Aretha approached telling her story with the intention to respect Ms. Franklin in every aspect of the series and in every decision we made.”
Aretha Franklin was one of the biggest stars of pop, soul, gospel and R&B, who scored more than 100 hit singles on the US Billboard charts – from Chain of Fools and Respect to Think and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
Her extraordinary success was matched by an equally dramatic personal life, in which she survived abusive relationships and worked with civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King.
A separate big-screen biopic of her life was already in production when she died of pancreatic cancer in 2018. Starring Jennifer Hudson, it has been produced with input from the family and is due to hit screens this summer.
Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for pain during your period (menstruation) or menstrual cramps. There are two types of dysmenorrhea: primary and secondary.
Primary dysmenorrhea is the name for common menstrual cramps that come back over and over again (recurrent) and aren’t due to other diseases. Pain usually begins one or two days before you get your period or when bleeding actual starts. You may feel pain ranging from mild to severe in the lower abdomen, back or thighs.
Pain can typically last 12 to 72 hours, and you might have other symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and even diarrhea. Common menstrual cramps may become less painful as you get older and may stop entirely if you have a baby.
If you have painful periods because of a disorder or an infection in your female reproductive organs, it is called secondary dysmenorrhea. Pain from secondary dysmenorrhea usually begins earlier in the menstrual cycle and lasts longer than common menstrual cramps. You usually don’t have nausea, vomiting, fatigue or diarrhea.
SYMPTOMS AND CAUSES
What causes painful menstrual cramps?
Menstrual cramps happen when a chemical called prostaglandin makes the uterus contract (tighten up). The uterus, the muscular organ where a baby grows, contracts throughout your menstrual cycle. During menstruation, the uterus contracts more strongly. If the uterus contracts too strongly, it can press against nearby blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to muscle tissue. You feel pain when part of the muscle briefly loses its supply of oxygen.
How does secondary dysmenorrhea cause menstrual cramps?
Menstrual pain from secondary dysmenorrhea is a result of problems with the reproductive organs. Conditions that can cause cramping include:
Endometriosis: A condition in which the tissue lining the uterus (the endometrium) is found outside of the uterus. Because these pieces of tissue bleed during your period, they can cause swelling, scarring and pain.
Adenomyosis: A condition where the lining of the uterus grows into the muscle of the uterus. This condition can cause the uterus to get much bigger than it should be, along with abnormal bleeding and pain.
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID): An infection caused by bacteria that starts in the uterus and can spread to other reproductive organs. PID can cause pain in the stomach or pain during sex.
Cervical stenosis: Narrowing of the cervix, or the opening to the uterus.
Fibroids (benign tumours) Growths on the inside, outside or in the walls of the uterus
What are the symptoms of menstrual cramps?
If you have painful periods, you may have:
Aching pain in the abdomen (pain may be severe at times).
Feeling of pressure in the abdomen.
Pain in the hips, lower back and inner thighs.
DIAGNOSIS
How can you tell if the pain of your menstrual cramps is normal?
If you have severe or unusual menstrual cramps or cramps that last for more than two or three days, contact your healthcare provider. Both primary and secondary menstrual cramps can be treated, so it’s important to get checked.
If your provider thinks you may have secondary dysmenorrhea, you may need additional tests, such as an ultrasound or a laparoscopy. If those tests indicate a medical problem, your healthcare provider will discuss treatments.
If you use tampons and develop the following symptoms, get medical help right away:
over 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fever.
Vomiting.
Diarrhea.
Dizziness, fainting or near fainting.
A rash that looks like a sunburn.
These are symptoms of toxic shock syndrome, a life-threatening illness.
MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT
How can you relieve mild menstrual cramps?
To relieve mild menstrual cramps:
For the best relief, take ibuprofen as soon as bleeding or cramping starts. Ibuprofen belongs to a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They reduce the output of prostaglandins.
Place a heating pad or hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen.
Rest when needed.
Avoid foods that contain caffeine.
Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
Massage your lower back and abdomen.
Women who exercise regularly often have less menstrual pain. To help prevent cramps, make exercise a part of your weekly routine.
If these steps don’t relieve pain, your healthcare provider can order medications for you, including ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory medication in a higher dose that is available over the counter. Your healthcare provider might also suggest oral contraceptives since women who take oral contraceptives tend to have less menstrual pain.
If testing shows that you have secondary dysmenorrhea, your provider will discuss treatments of the condition causing the pain. This might mean oral contraceptives, other types of medications, or surgery.
PREVENTION
Can you prevent menstrual cramps?
The answer is “probably not.” However, eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise may help stop cramps from being as intense.
When should you contact your healthcare provider about menstrual cramps?
Bad cramps keep some women from working and going to school. You don’t have to suffer and you don’t have to put your life on hold. Contact your healthcare provider if you have painful periods.
It may be helpful to keep track of your periods and the days on which pain is the worst so you can make a complete report. If you notice other symptoms, like headaches or heavy flows, you should keep track of those, too.
Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has narrated how God blessed him with two SUVs after donating money for a church project.
In a lengthy post shared via his Instagram page on Sunday, March 21, 2020, the movie star gave a detailed account of how keying into a church project favoured him.
“OK on a Serious note. Last month I wanted to buy an SUV (because you need one in Lagos especially if you are always at a Site) and that same period a church building project came up. So I was left with the choice of either buying my SUV or giving the money for the church of God to be completed (where people’s life will be changed for good and souls saved).”
“So I was led in my spirit to give it for the church project and used the rest to buy a car for someone who didn’t have one. A month later God blessed me with Two SUVs at once.”
In November 2020, Uchemba tied the knot with his medical doctor wife, Brunella Oscar
The couple had their traditional wedding ceremony on Saturday, November 14, at the bride’s hometown, Alor in Anambra state.
Recall the movie star announced his engagement to Oscar back in October.
Working out is known to be beneficial for both our mental and physical health. It can give our skin a healthy glow, but it can also trigger breakouts if we don’t maintain a proper skin care regimen. Sweat and dirt can clog pores during a workout, leading to breakouts and blackheads. Fortunately, there are ways that you can keep your skin looking clear and bright, even after a hard workout.
Below are some skin care tips for people who love to workout.
1. If you can, skip the makeup.
If you’re about to head to a workout, it’s best to do so with a clean, makeup-free face. As your body heats up during a workout, your pores open and you don’t want that makeup to settle back into the pores.
When you’re working out, your skin should be able to breathe, but if you aren’t completely comfortable going out with a bare face, use makeup products that won’t clog pores ― non-comedogenic is the magic word to look for on labels.
2. Always, always, always wash your face post-workout.
This one is a must whether you do or don’t wear makeup to the gym.
It’s very important to clean skin gently following a workout to remove bacteria and sweat residue that accumulated during your workout. It’s also helpful to cool off skin to prevent breaking of blood vessels and return skin temperature to a normal level quicker.
Even a quick splash of cool water post-workout is a good practice. Wash away sweat, oils and bacteria without irritating your skin, then add moisturizer before reapplying any makeup.
3. Pick the right gym towel.
Yes, there is such a thing as the right gym towel.
Many gyms provide towels for patrons to use, but bringing your own ensures you know exactly when and how it was cleaned. If the gym uses a detergent you’re not used to or are perhaps allergic to, your skin could have an allergic reaction.
Then there’s the issue of absorbency.
The fluffier and thicker the towel, the more chance it will hold on to bacteria even through a wash cycle. And if you’re someone who uses a towel more than once ― no judgment, we’ve all done it ― that’s even more reason to take care when choosing a gym towel.
4. Keep your hair off your face.
If you have longer hair ― this goes for both men and women ― it’s best to keep it pulled back and away from your face during a workout.
This helps prevent oils and any hair products you used that day from clogging your pores, which can cause breakouts.
5. Don’t touch your face!
We already reminded you that gyms are full of germs and other people’s sweat. which should be enough to convince you not to touch your face when you’re at the gym. This tip is especially important for anyone who’s working with various apparatuses that others are also using, as you don’t want to spread any bacteria onto your skin.
We know it’s hard to refrain from doing it, but do your best to not touch your face until you wash your hands. Cleaning your hands should be the first thing that you do.
Halitosis is a common condition in which a person emanates an unpleasant odour from the mouth, hence it called Bad Breath. It is estimated that Halitosis affects 1 in 4 people on a regular basis.
Halitosis is the third most common reason that people seek dental care, after tooth decay and gum disease. There are several causes of Halitosis but the major is oral hygiene. Halitosis can cause significant worry, embarrassment, and anxiety but it is relatively easy to remedy.
Simple home remedies and lifestyle changes, such as improved dental hygiene and quitting smoking, often remove the issue. If bad breath persists, however, it is advisable to visit a doctor to check for underlying causes.
Treatment
The best method to reduce halitosis is good oral hygiene. This ensures that cavities are avoided and reduces the likelihood of gum disease.
It is recommended that individuals visit the dentist for a check-up and cleaning twice a year.
The dentist may recommend a toothpaste that includes an antibacterial agent or an antibacterial mouthwash.
Alternatively, if gum disease is present, professional cleaning may be necessary to clear out the build-up of bacteria in pockets between the gums and teeth.
Causes
Some of the potential causes of bad breath included: Tobacco: Tobacco products cause their own types of mouth odor. Additionally, they increase the chances of gum disease which can also cause bad breath.
Food: The breakdown of food particles stuck in the teeth can cause odors. Some foods such as onions garlic can also cause bad breath. After they are digested, their breakdown products are carried in the blood to the lungs where they can affect the breath.
Dry Mouth: Saliva naturally cleans the mouth. If the mouth is naturally dry or dry due to a specific disease, such as xerostomia, odors can build up.
Dental Hygiene: Brushing and flossing ensure the removal of small particles of food that can build up and slowly break down, producing odor. A film of bacteria called plaque builds up if brushing is not regular. This plaque can irritate the gums and cause inflammation between the teeth and gums called periodontitis Dentures that are not cleaned regularly or properly can also harbor bacteria that cause halitosis.
Crash Diets: Fasting and low-carbohydrate eating programs can produce halitosis. This is due to the breakdown of fats producing chemicals called ketones. These ketones have a strong aroma.
Drugs: Certain medications can reduce saliva and, therefore, increase odors. Other drugs can produce odors as they breakdown and release chemicals in the breath. Examples include nitrates used to treat angina, some chemotherapy chemicals, and some tranquilizers, such as phenothiazines. Individuals who take vitamin supplements in large doses can also be prone to bad breath.
Mouth, Nose and Throat Conditions: Sometimes, small, bacteria-covered stones can form on the tonsils at the back of the throat and produce odor. Also, infections or inflammation in the nose, throat, or sinuses can cause halitosis.
Foreign body: Bad breath can be caused if they have a foreign body lodged in their nasal cavity, especially in children.
Diseases: cancers, liver failure, and other metabolic diseases can cause halitosis, due to the specific mixes of chemicals that they produce. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)can cause bad breath due to the regular reflux of stomach acids.
As earlier mentioned, Halitosis is caused oral hygiene but in rare cases bad breath can be caused by some other medical conditions:
Ketoacidosis: When the insulin levels of a person with diabetes very low, their bodies can no longer use sugar and begin to use fat stores instead. When fat is broken down, ketones are produced and build up. Ketones can be poisonous when found in large numbers and produce a distinctive and unpleasant breath odor. Ketoacidosis is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition.
Bowel obstruction: Breath can smell like feces if there has been a prolonged period of vomiting, especially if a bowel obstruction is present.
Bronchiectasis:This is a long-term condition in which airways become wider than normal, allowing for a build-up of mucus that leads to bad breath.
Aspiration pneumonia: swelling or infection in the lungs or airways due to inhaling vomit, saliva, food, or liquids.
It is worthy to mention that making some lifestyle changes and some home remedies can help in taking care of that offensive odour.
Brush the teeth: Be sure to brush at least twice a day, preferably after each meal.
Floss: Flossing reduces the build-up of food particles and plaque from between the teeth. Brushing only cleans around 60 percent of the surface of the tooth.
Clean dentures: Anything that goes into your mouth, including dentures, a bridge, or a mouth guard, should be cleaned as recommended on a daily basis. Cleaning prevents the bacteria from building up and being transferred back into the mouth. Changing toothbrush every 2 to 3 months is also important for similar reasons.
Brush tongue: Bacteria, food, and dead cells commonly build up on the tongue, especially in smokers or those with a particularly dry mouth. A tongue scraper can sometimes be useful.
Avoid dry mouth: Drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol and tobacco, both of which dehydrate the mouth. Chewing gum or sucking a sweet, preferably sugar-free, can help stimulate the production of saliva. If the mouth is chronically dry, a doctor may prescribe medication that stimulates the flow of saliva.
Diet: Avoid onions, garlic, and spicy food. Sugary foods are also linked to bad breath. Reduce coffee and alcohol consumption. Eating a breakfast that includes rough foods can help clean the back of the tongue.
If breath odor persists despite controlling these factors, it is recommended that an individual visits a doctor for further tests to rule out other conditions.
Symptoms
The specific odor of breath can vary depending on the cause of the problem. It is best to ask a close friend or relative to gauge your mouth odor, as it can be difficult to assess it yourself.
If no one is available, one way of checking the odor is to lick your wrist, leave it to dry, and then smell it. A bad smell on this area of the wrist is likely to suggest that you have halitosis.
Some individuals are concerned about their breath even though they may have little or no mouth odor. This condition is called halitophobia and can lead to obsessive mouth-cleansing behavior.
All in all, it always good to keep a good oral hygiene.
What was meant to be a peaceful protest in the city of Bristol on Sunday quickly escalated into violent attacks against the police.
The gathering was to protest the new “Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill” which will increase the power of police officers in protest situations. however, this is just a part of it. The bill includes major government proposals on crime and justice across England and Wales.
Eye witnesses say that even though thousands of protesters gathered contrary to previous police warning, the protest started out peacefully and without chaos until a small group turned it “into a violent disorder”.
Demonstrators began scaling police stations and throwing fireworks into the crowd from the roof top.
Riot police in full protective gear formed a barricade in front of the station, but the officers were said to not have engaged the protesters at all
According to the Avon and Somerset police force, two police vehicles were set ablaze with one police officer suffering a broken arm and another from broken ribs.
“Thuggery and disorder by a minority will never be tolerated,” said Home Secretary Priti Patel as she described the events as unacceptable. “Our police officers put themselves in harm’s way to protect us all.”
Previously, the powers of the police in protest situations were limited to imposing specific measures on the routes of marches and such details are typically thrashed out with the organizers weeks in advance in the case of major matches.
Also, they generally have to show that a protest may result in “serious public disorder, serious damage to property or serious disruption to the life of the community” if they want to place any form of restrictions on a protest.
With this new bill however, police can impose a start and finish time, can set noise limits and apply these rules to a demonstration by just one person. it will also be considered a crime if protesters fail to follow rules that police expect them to know where as police previously had to prove that the protesters where well aware of the rules and chose to break them.
UNICEF report says 26.5 millian Nigerian children affected by water shortage As the world commemorates 2021 World Water Day, a new analysis by the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has shown that 26.5 million Nigerian children are experiencing high or extremely high water vulnerability.
UNICEF, while describing the trend as worrisome, explained that nearly one third of children in Nigeria do not have enough water to meet their daily needs.
The analysis also revealed that globally, more than 1.42 billion people, including 450 million children are living in areas of high or extremely high water vulnerability. This means that 1 in 5 children worldwide does not have enough water to meet their everyday needs.
According to the analysis, Nigeria is among the hotspot countries which face dire circumstances, in terms of absolute numbers, the proportions of children affected, and where global resources, support and urgent action must be mobilized. Others includes Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sudan, Tanzania and Yemen.
The UNICEF data further show that children in more than 80 countries live in areas with high or extremely high water vulnerability. Eastern and Southern Africa has the highest proportion of children living in such areas, with more than half of children, 58 per cent , facing difficulty accessing sufficient water every day.
Nigerians were sadder in 2020 than ever as the country’s happiness ranking dropped by 31 places to 116 position out of 149 countries, according to the United Nation’s World Happiness Report 2021 released on Friday.
The report, which comes as the world marks International Happiness Day today (Saturday), shows that Nigeria ranks 18th position in Africa.
The report focuses on the effects of Covid-19 and how people all over the world have fared.
The annual report ranks nations based on gross domestic product per person, healthy life expectancy and the opinions of residents. Surveys ask respondents to indicate on a 1-10 scale how much social support they feel they have if something goes wrong, their freedom to make their own life choices, their sense of how corrupt their society is and how generous they are.
Further analysis also showed that Nigeria’s current ranking is the worst since the report started in 2013. The country ranked 82, 78, 103, 95, 91, 85 and 116 in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The ranking does not come as a surprise as Nigeria’s current realities – such as high inflation, unemployment and fragile economic growth – are making citizens more miserable.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the country’s inflation, which measures the rate of increase of commodity prices, quickened to a 35-month high at 17.3 percent in February 2021, while unemployment is at a record high of 33.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020.
