Zamfara: Troops Neutralise Two Explosive Devices

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised two explosive devices allegedly planted by terrorists along the Magami–Hannutara–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The military disclosed the development on Friday, October 9, 2026, saying the operation followed credible intelligence about explosives planted along the route.

How Troops Discovered the Explosives in Zamfara

According to the military, troops attached to Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma immediately secured the affected area after receiving information about the suspected threat.

A search of the road revealed two separate locations where explosive devices had been planted, potentially endangering motorists, commuters and nearby communities.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was subsequently deployed to the scene.

The team successfully destroyed one of the devices while the second was recovered and rendered harmless.

The operation prevented a possible explosion along the route, although the military did not disclose whether any suspects had been identified or arrested.

Military Intensifies Security Patrols

Following the discovery, troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the affected road to protect residents and prevent further security threats.

The military also urged residents, travellers and other road users to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or activities to the nearest security agency.

The development highlights the continuing threat posed by explosive devices to communities and transport routes in Zamfara State, where security forces are conducting operations against armed groups.
