2027: Tuggar Buys ₦50m APC Bauchi Governorship Form

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination form worth ₦50 million to contest the 2027 election in Bauchi State.

A video shared on Wednesday by Imran Mohammed, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, showed Tuggar signing the necessary documents and receiving the nomination form from party officials.

Tuggar had earlier declared his intention to run for governor, noting that his ambition is aimed at strengthening internal competition within the party rather than causing division.

“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward,” he said during a visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi last week.

The former minister, who resigned his position in March 2026 in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive for political appointees seeking elective offices, said party loyalty and unity remain key to his campaign.

He also pledged to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, stressing that he would not resort to litigation against fellow party members.

Tuggar added that his governorship ambition is driven by the need to address key development challenges in Bauchi State, including poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and gaps in education and healthcare.

He outlined plans to prioritise agriculture, support small and medium-scale enterprises, and develop the solid minerals sector, while also promising improved security, timely payment of salaries, and expanded access to quality education and healthcare.
