The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its senatorial primary elections in Ekiti State, producing candidates for the three senatorial districts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele emerged as the party’s candidate for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, while Cyril Fasuyi secured the APC ticket for Ekiti North.
In Ekiti South, Yemi Adaramodu won the party’s senatorial primary conducted across the wards in the district.
The results were announced on Monday night in Ado Ekiti by the chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Asipa Adedoyin.
According to the committee, Bamidele, who contested unopposed in the Ekiti Central primary, polled 29,586 votes to emerge victorious.
In the Ekiti North Senatorial District primary, Fasuyi defeated former senator Ayo Arise after securing 14,179 votes, while Arise garnered 4,868 votes.
Another aspirant in the race, Bamisaye Oladipupo, received 3,694 votes in the contest.
For the Ekiti South Senatorial District primary, Adaramodu emerged winner after polling 12,200 votes.
Former National Assembly member Biodun Olujimi scored 7,420 votes, while Bamidele Faparusi secured 5,502 votes in the race for the party’s ticket.
Adedoyin praised party members for the peaceful conduct of the primaries across the state’s three senatorial districts.
He described the exercise as transparent, credible and in line with the party’s established guidelines.
“The exercise was peaceful, transparent and conducted in accordance with the party’s guidelines,” Mr Adedoyin stated.
