Siminalayi Fubara has denied reports suggesting that he defected to the National Democratic Congress, reaffirming that he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the governor described the reports as false and blamed the speculation on misinformation circulating across social media and other platforms.
“I know that there’s been a lot of drama in the media, one story and another. I’m a member of the All Progressive Congress, and nothing has changed,” he said.
Fubara urged the public to verify information before spreading it, warning against misrepresenting his political position based on assumptions or online narratives.
“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly,” he said.
The governor further reaffirmed his commitment to the APC, insisting that he has not left the party.
“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of the All Progressive Congress, and I remain a member,” he added.
Fubara also stressed the importance of unity within the party, noting that members should prioritise the collective interests of the APC above individual political considerations.
“Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interests of the party,” he said.
