The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has disqualified dozens of aspirants reportedly loyal to Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the party’s 2027 State House of Assembly primaries in Rivers State.
According to a screening list released by the party, more than 60 aspirants failed to secure clearance to contest the assembly primaries across several constituencies in the state.
Many of those affected are believed to be members of Fubara’s political camp amid the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
Among the aspirants not cleared by the party are Berebupakabo Isaac Sekibo, Tamunodiepriye Fubara Goodluck Ohaka, Tonye Garrick Tom-George, Prince Emukighro Fubara and Tamunobaraiba George.
The screening outcome also affected aspirants from constituencies such as Okrika, Khana, Omuma, Ahoada East, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Andoni and Akuku-Toru.
Meanwhile, the APC approved 33 aspirants to participate in the assembly primaries. Several of those cleared are reportedly aligned with Nyesom Wike.
Those cleared include Maol Dumle, Tonye Smart Adoki, Kenneth Minimah, Justina Aniton Okorji and Arnold O. Davids.
The latest development comes just days after the APC reportedly screened out several aspirants linked to Fubara from the party’s Senate and House of Representatives primaries in Rivers State.
